Fancy spending the bank holiday weekend at a festival celebrating all the traditions and quirks of the English countryside? Book your tickets to the Cheshire Game & County Fair on Flittogate Lane in Knutsford. The fair is Cheshire’s leading country show and brings together activities, food, workshops, competitions, animals, demonstrations, lessons and so much more. Here are the highlights:
The Three Arenas
Here is where you’ll see all types of country-themed displays including Scurry Racing, Horse Boarding, Shire Horse Display, Chase The Bunny, Falconry, Ferrets and Fishing – lessons and demos on fishing will be given by the Salmon and Trout Society and the Angling Trust.
Shooting Village
Have a go at clay shooting here, field archery and get training and an education with ATEO Airgun training.
Craft Village
In this marquee you’ll find demonstrations of some of the most interesting countryside crafts. Learn about Glass Blowing and Blacksmithing before picking up a homemade gift to take a piece of the country fair home with you.
Food Glorious Food
If all this activity is making you peckish, fear not; the Food Glorious Food area will showcase local, national and international food and drink producers and will be the place to pig on fresh street food. There’s also a country kitchen where live demonstrations will be ongoing throughout each day of the fair.
Competitions
The Cheshire Game & County Fair will play host to the 15th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition, a really unique art form – 24 of the world’s top chainsaw carvers will begin with a large piece of timber and will have three days to create a sculpture using their chainsaw and other tools. Make sure to attend the fair on the Monday, when judging takes place and the final pieces will be auctioned.
