The UK’s largest free-to-attend seafood festival is back this year for another weekend of celebrating all the fantastic food and fun the sea has to offer. Taking place amongst the liveliness of Weymouth’s charming South Coast harbour, this year’s festival sees the return of over 100 seafood stalls, chef demos, and indulging in English sparkling wine from title sponsors Nyetimber.
Typically welcoming over 50,000 guests, the festival has something for everyone, even the little ones who can enjoy making sea-inspired crafts in the creative Kids Zone, as well as crabbing and face painting. Adults will love finding the perfect wine pairing to their favourite seafood with the help of Nyetimber. There will even be an opportunity to hop aboard The Nyetimber, a luxuriously transformed 1968 Routemaster bus in which guests can enjoy a glass of English sparkling wine while overlooking the prepossessing harbour.
Visitors can also hone in on their seafood cooking skills at The Selfish marquee. Delight in cooking demos from a range of renowned local chefs and find some inspiration from Seafish’s campaign, ‘Fish 2 a week’, where you’ll get find top tips and recipes to help make two fish dishes per week. There will plenty of live music and entertainment throughout the two days ti enjoy whilst perusing the stalls and indulging in delicious local seafood.
What’s more, the festival raises funds for The Fishermen’s Mission, the UK’s only charity to provide fishermen and their families 24 hour emergency support. The charity also offers practical and emotional care, aiding injured and ill fishermen, or those who have survived a fishing boat accident, plus so much more.
The ideal day out to be spent with all the family (and introduce the kids to some incredible seafood), the Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival is a must-visit for 2020.
