In January 2020, Simon Rogan’s Michelin-starred restaurant will introduce its new guest chef series, Roganic: The Scandinavian Series. Running throughout the first half of the year, the series will see Simon and his team welcoming a line-up of top chefs from Europe’s culinary mecca of Scandinavia to his Marylebone restaurant. Each will cook up a unique eight-course feast alongside the Roganic team, available at the restaurant for one day only.
Simon has always been inspired by the farm-to-fork ethos of Scandinavian cooking. Many chefs there own and work on their own farms, reflective of Simon’s farm in the Cartmel Valley – which provides the majority of the produce for his restaurants.
Kicking off the series is Christian F. Puglisi on 18 January, who opened Michelin-starred Relæ in Copenhagen in 2010, before launching the smaller and much-loved eatery across the street, Manfreds. In 2014 he opened two more venues: bakery Mirabelle, and the critically-acclaimed Bæst, a casual concept showcasing the best local produce Copenhagen has to offer.
Next up on 21 March is Magnus Ek, chef owner of Stockholm’s two Michelin-starred Oaxen Krog, as well as more informal concept Oaxen Slip. He has won numerous accolades over the years, including a listing on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants five times in a row, as well as being named Sweden’s Best Restaurant five times.
Simon opened his first restaurant in 2002: L’Enclume, in the idyllic village of Cartmel, Cumbria – which went on to gain two Michelin stars. He also set up his own farm, dedicated to producing the finest ingredients utilising the rich Lake District countryside, alongside a number of other food spots including Roganic and L’Enclume’s sister restaurant Rogan & Co. He also spent time working as head chef at famed Claridge’s restaurant Fera.
