Swinging London: A Lifestyle Revolution

Yeah baby, yeah! Head to the Fashion & Textile Museum this February and be transported back to the wonderful and wacky world of the swinging sixties.

The exhibition, which will run from February until June, will focus on the creative and radical collective, The Chelsea Set. Headed by young revolutionaries Mary Quant and Terence Conran, The Chelsea Set were a group made up of designers, architects, artists and photographers who spearheaded the rebellion against the strict and established conformity of 1950s London. This was a transformative time for art, fashion, music and culture, and this exhibition will delve deep into the details of this transformation in the form of textiles, fashion, lighting, furniture, ceramics and so much more, including works from the daring designers who worked with and alongside Mary Quant, Terence Conran and The Chelsea Set, such as Bernard and Laura Ashley, Nigel Henderson and Eduardo Paolozzi.

The Fashion & Textile Museum is home to temporary and majorly inspirational installations and exhibitions curated throughout the year. Created by designer Zandra Rhodes and designed by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, the museum hosts exhibitions to inspire ‘a new generation of creatives’ alongside a packed events schedule with workshops and courses for students, businesses and kids.
