Leanne Pero Women-of-the-World-Festival-2020
Leanne Pero will speak about The C Word at Women of the World Festival 2020

The Women of the World Festival is returning this March in observance of International Women’s Day (8th March) and in celebration of the WOW Foundation. As this year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary, prepare for the most spectacular edition so far.

Launched in 2010 by former Southbank Centre artistic director, Jude Kelly CBE, the three-day festival celebrates women and girls from around the globe, commemorating achievements whilst also assessing existing gender inequalities and discussing potential remedies with some of the world’s leading female speakers, activists and performers.

This year sees the likes of activist and author of Feminists Don’t Wear Pink Scarlett Curtis, comedian and host of The Guilty Feminist podcast, Deborah Frances-White, feminist author Naomi Wolf, and Irish model and presenter Emma Dabiri among many others.

Join an array of former and present MPs for a fascinating panel discussion about ‘Women’s Parliament’, and what the political world would be like if women ran Parliament. Or attend a discussion hosted by journalist and author Helen Lewis as she details why well-behaved women don’t make history and what it means to be a ‘difficult’ woman – transgressive, trailblazing and history-making. Other inspirational talks include Layla Saad on white supremacy, founder of Fertility Fest, Jessica Hepburn on all things fertility, from egg donation to freezing and IVF, and Vogue editor in chief Edward Enninful OBE on ‘Vogue’s Forces for Change’.

Whether it’s discussing feminist solutions to climate change, or joining the WOW ‘Big Sing’, or ‘Discussing the C word’ with award-winning entrepreneur Leanne Pero, there is a discussion, debate and event for every woman to get involved with.

Visit southbankcentre.co.uk for more information.

All talks and panels are hosted over Friday 6 March and Saturday 8 March.

At the Southbank Centre; most events will take place in the Royal Festival Hall or Purcell Hall.

Each event is priced individually, varying between £5 and £25. Non-members pay a booking fee of £3 (there is no fee for members).
