Is This the World’s Most Exclusive Dinner?

Six of the world’s best chefs are cooking a meal at Harrods – for £2,500 a head

What does a 12 Michelin-starred meal look like? Head to Harrods on 22 September to find out. The department store is hosting a once-in-a-lifetime dinner cooked by six of the most respected chefs in the world: Bjorn Frantzen, Jason Atherton, Tom Kerridge, Dave Pynt, Angelo Musa and Phil Khoury.

Tickets are priced at a hefty £2,500 – but it’s all for a good cause. Proceeds will be going towards Felix Refettorio at St. Cuthberts, a non-profit collaboration which aims to reduce poverty and support vulnerable people through shared meals – part of Massimo Bottura’s’s Food For Soul network.

The dinner will take place in a specially designed space in Harrods, with 25 lucky diners set to be treated to a six-course feast prepared by the star-studded roster of chefs. Each name will showcase their unique style of cooking, paired with drinks including acclaimed vintages from the Harrods cellars.

Kicking things off is Frantzen, who heads up his eponymous, three Michelin-starred Stockholm restaurant – recently named sixth in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants – and will soon be launching a new venture in Harrods. He’ll be serving a starter of tuna and red deer tartare with caviar, wasabi and warm ginger butter, alongside a glass of Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Elisabeth Rose 2008.

Next up is two fish courses: a line-caught Norwegian turbot from Atherton (Pollen St Social, City Social), and deep-fried native lobster from Kerridge, who helms numerous restaurants including the UK’s only two Michelin-starred pub, The Hand & Flowers.

The main course comes courtesy of Pynt, head chef of Burnt Ends in Singapore. It’s suitably luxurious: a wagyu striploin, served with smoked potato puree and bone marrow tarte tatin. Pre-dessert (yes, it’s a thing) is wine and grape sorbets from Khoury, Harrods’ head patisserie chef. And for the main pudding, it’s a vanilla-lemon soufflé created by Musa, Executive Pastry Chef at the Michelin-starred Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, who opened his first London outpost on the fourth floor of Harrods this year. In a word: wow.

Ashley Saxton, Director of Restaurants at Harrods, says: ‘Gathering these six visionaries – who are at the absolute top of the culinary world – together for one night, was no easy feat. However, they were happy to come and celebrate their style of cooking and to prepare a meal together in London’s most iconic setting, and in aid of a fantastic cause. I am excited not only to see the once-in-a-lifetime banquet that they prepare, but also to raise as much as we can for charity. To see these chefs together in one place, to see how they inspire and challenge each other to create the world’s most exclusive meal, will be a dream come true for the lucky gourmands who join us on the night’.

The event is taking place as part of the wider Harrods Restaurants Festival, designed to celebrate the exceptional culinary talent showcased at the venue. If you can’t quite face shelling out thousands on a ticket, there are other offerings to get involved with including cocktail masterclasses and special dining offers.
