Skip Mark Mahoney’s usual two-year waitlist at the Mandrake this October

The Mandrake is supporting the multidisciplinary art and music industry after one of its hardest periods in history through its new Artists-in-Residence series. The Mandrake has Magnhild Kennedy aka Damselfrau in residence until 4 October and later in October Mark Mahoney will be setting up his Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlour at the boutique hotel. Now to choose a design…

Mark Mahoney At The Mandrake

With a typical waiting list of more than two years, celebrity tattoo artist Mark Mahoney is a favourite amongst the A-list, with clients including Adele and David Beckham. But visitors to The Mandrake will be able to skip the queue and be tattooed by Mahoney between 11-17 October during his artist-in-residency. An overnight stay at the hotel (while highly recommended) is not necessary to secure an appointment, as they can also be booked during this period by people enjoying dinner and/or drinks on site. This will mark Mahoney’s fourth stint at the hotel, where he will bring his Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlour as a seven-day pop-up. Mark is the owner and principal artist at the legendary Shamrock Social Club on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California, and this residency marks a rare opportunity for hotel guests to skip the queues and secure a slot with this tattooing master. themandrake.com/mark-mahoney

Magnhild Kennedy aka Damselfrau At The Mandrake

In addition to Mahoney’s residency, guests between now and 4 October can enjoy the work of Magnhild Kennedy aka Damselfrau with an exhibition throughout The Mandrake spaces with a special exhibition in the portal to welcome the hotel’s guests, showcasing her wearable sculptures including abstract and textured masks. The London-based Norwegian artist creates wearable art, mostly masks and jewellery, which are made, mostly sewn, by hand. The materials are sourced by Kennedy and range from pearls, old tea towels and gold confetti to plastic trinkets and old laces and she never sketches or decides the design of a mask beforehand. themandrake.com/magnhild-kennedy

The hotel will also host artists, musicians and DJs for a programme of live music performances, so whether or not you re-emerge with a new inking from Mark Mahoney, you’re sure to leave entertained.
