Curriculum

Academic success is a key part of a Sandroyd education,  and staff take great pride in the progress their pupils make in the classroom. The school’s primary aim is to spark curiosity and a love of learning. The academic curriculum is carefully designed to stretch and support each child as they prepare for Common Entrance or scholarship exams, important milestones that reflect the high standards Sandroyd upholds. Teaching equips pupils with the foundations and confidence they need to thrive at their senior schools and beyond.

Sport & The Arts

The academic side of the timetable is balanced by more practical demands in the form of art, performing arts, DT and sport. The purpose-built dance studio, art studio and theatre are in constant use. Pupils are given plenty of opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of sports including rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, tennis, swimming and athletics. Horse-riding is also a large part of Sandroyd life. Broader activities include archery, fencing, polo, Pilates, gymnastics and Greenpower club.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is absolutely central to everything Sandroyd does. A friendly and nurturing boarding environment equips children with the confidence and skills to really challenge themselves, to be happy, and to succeed. The school’s size creates a wonderfully unique family atmosphere that allows staff to properly focus on the individual needs of each child at every stage of their education.

Exit Destinations

Leavers progress to the top independent schools in the country, including Winchester, Marlborough and Sherborne. Fifty percent of leavers gained awards last year.

Head’s Philosophy

To wrap my arms around every family and be the champion of their children. I am ambitious for every child, and encourage them to believe in themselves and focus on their strengths. I encourage them to take responsibility for their actions and to live their lives graciously and thoughtfully.
