Countless young people received their A-Level results on 18th August, with a staggering amount achieving the highest grades. We’ve pulled together a fantastic range of news from schools across the country.

Advanced Placement (AP) students at ACS International School Cobham are celebrating after receiving exceptional 2022 exam results, with many set to study at top universities across the globe, including University College London (UK) and Boston College (US).

There were smiles all round at ACS International School Hillingdon as Advanced Placement (AP) students celebrated excellent 2022 exam results, with many now set to study at top universities across the globe, including John Cabot University (Italy), The Pratt Institute (US) and London Metropolitan University.

Badminton School

Two thirds of students achieved three grades at A/A* level and over a quarter of students gained an exceptional three A* grades. Every candidate studying a Modern Foreign Language achieved an A* or A grade, a standout success with students excelling across the range of languages, including A Level Japanese.

Bedales

Bedales

An impressive 32% of students gained at least three A grades or equivalent, 9% of whom achieved three A* grades. There were a number of high-achieving students who progressed to the Senior School from Bedales Prep, Dunhurst, with four of them gaining a clean sweep of at least three A* grades.

When asked about their brilliant A-Level results, Bede’s Deputy Head, John Tuson commented: “After a tumultuous few years, it was wonderful to see pupils returning to something approaching normality – a normality characterised by the rigours of public exams.”

Blackheath High School

Blackheath High School achieved results across the school year which showed particular strength in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) subjects, with 71% achieving A*-A across Maths and Art and 50% awarded A*-A across all three sciences.

Blundells

At Blundell’s, 85% of its pupils secured places at their university of choice, the majority of which are Russell Group universities based in the UK. In addition to this, a growing number of pupils looking further afield both in Europe and in America. One pupil has been awarded a scholarship to an Ivy League University and three others have received generous scholarships including one full scholarship for Athletics.

Cranford House

Following the launch of their new Sixth Form in 2020, students at Cranford House in Moulsford, Oxfordshire are celebrating an outstanding set of A-level results with 70% of all grades awarded at A*-B and 42% A*/A, alongside a 100% Pass Rate. 

Cranleigh

This cohort did not sit GCSE examinations, and were impacted throughout their time at Sixth Form by ongoing issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. They performed extremely well, with just over half of the of students gaining A*/A in two or more subjects, and an outstanding 70 per cent achieving all A*-B.

Croydon High School

From cancelled GCSEs to outstanding A Level Results Croydon High’s Class of 2022 finally have their chance to shine. Outperforming already high expectations, Croydon High School pupils have achieved stellar A-level results with a remarkable 91% of all grades awarded being A*-B.

DLD College

A highly-impressive 40% of grades were awarded A*-A and 70% at A*-B, an increase of 13% and 15% respectively on pre-pandemic (2019) results when students last sat invigilated exams – well above the national average.

Felsted

At Felsted School, 46% of all subjects were graded at A or A*, and almost three quarters of all subjects were graded at B or higher. Many subjects achieved exceptional results; French, Latin and Music achieved 100% A*/A, with German, History and Further Maths achieving 100% A*-B while Art, Economics, Geography and Psychology had more than 80% A*-B grades.

Harrogate Ladies’ College

Pupils at Harrogate Ladies’ College achieved top results across all subjects with 69 per cent of all grades at A*-B level; 42% at A*-A and 22% at the highest A* grade, including 100% of Further Maths grades.

Harrow School Online

As one of the first pioneering schools of its kind, the hugely successful results represent the fantastic effort and determination of pupils from across the world. The results saw 98% of the A-level grades were awarded grades from A* to B, and nearly half of the grades awarded (an impressive 45%) were at A*.

James Allen’s Girls’ School

Students at will head to prestigious Art Colleges, Drama Schools, Gap Year Programmes and Universities to study a variety of courses which range from Medicine to Cancer Sciences, Games Design to Chemical Physics and Architecture to Fine Art.King Alfred School – It was a day of celebration at The King Alfred School as the Y13 students picked up their A level results. With 55% of all grades at A*-A, and 95% of the grades A* – C, the results are another ringing endorsement of the Sixth Form’s inspirational teachers, powerful ethos and well-known pastoral support. The results have enabled over 95% of the students to successfully progress to their university of choice, despite tough competition for courses.

King Edward VI High School for Girls

Students at King Edward VI High School for Girls (KEHS) are looking forward to the future after receiving the school’s best ever set of A Level results. An outstanding 66% of grades were A*, and 91% were A*/A – the highest percentages ever recorded by the Birmingham-based independent school – and 96% were A* – B. Of the Upper Sixth cohort of 92 students, 37 (40%) achieved straight A*s.

King Edward VI High School for Girls

Kingswood School

Students at Kingswood School are today celebrating outstanding A Level results, with 67% of all grades at A* or A, 88% at A*- B and a 100% pass rate. In a remarkable achievement, this fine cohort has achieved Kingswood’s best ever outcome, considerably ahead even of the results achieved in 2020 and 2021.

Leweston

Well over half of all the A Level results celebrated at Leweston School were A* or A, the fourth year running that this impressive benchmark has been achieved. More than a third of all results at Leweston were A* which is over twice the national average.

Mayfield Girls

Mayfield’s Upper Sixth girls have secured places at leading universities to study a wide range of courses including Architecture, Fashion, Fine Art, Law, Modern Languages, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Psychology, and Veterinary Medicine, with over 10% heading to Cambridge University.

Monkton Combe School

Monkton Combe School were celebrating the achievements of their pupils as, despite the disruption of recent years, they secured results in line with some of the strongest recent pre-pandemic years, including 20% of grades at A* and a 100% pass rate. Currently almost 90% of pupils secured places at Universities of their choice with 82% achieving the grades to secure their first choice of university, including places for both Medicine and Oxbridge.

Moreton Hall

Moreton Hall’s Upper Sixth girls are celebrating exceptional performances in their A Levels. A third of all students achieved straight As and A*s and the Upper Sixth gained the highest proportion of A*-A and A*-B grades in recent history in externally set and marked A Level Examinations. Subjects enjoying particular success include History, Physics, Art, Textiles, Physical Education, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Theatre Studies and Business with 100% of grades at A*, A and B.

New Hall School

Sixth Form students at New Hall School in Chelmsford are celebrating ‘stellar’ A-Level results today, 18 August 2022.  A record 54% of grades were at A*/A.  A further record was set with a quarter of all grades at the highest level of A*.

Queen Anne’s School, Caversham

Queen Anne’s School in Caversham continues to prove its credentials in academic excellence with a strong set of A-level results. An outstanding 81% of results were graded A*-B and 96% at A*-C. The cohort has secured places at top universities in the country.

Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate

This year has seen students at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate aim high with a wide range of first-choice university places achieved at Cambridge, Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, Durham, King’s College London, University College London, and Bath, amongst other excellent UK and worldwide universities.  Students in QE Faculty achieved 86% A*-B grades at A Level and in QE College achieved 96% per cent A*-B grades. The percentage of BTEC Distinction* and Distinction grades in QE Faculty was 81%.

Nearly half (49%) of all girls at Queen Margaret’s School for Girls in York achieved two or more of the much sought-after A*-A grades. 91% of all entries scored A*-C. There were particular successes in Music, Geography and Latin, with 100% of girls achieving A*-A and notable achievements at the highest level in Physics, English Literature, Fine Art and French.

Reigate Grammar School

Reigate Grammar School

Reigate Grammar School students have achieved the best exam results in the school’s history, resulting in a record year for offers to selective and world class universities. Over 47% of grades were A* and 4 out of 5 grades were either A or A* and students achieved a staggering 94% A*-B grades.

Royal Hospital School

The number of grades at A*/Distinction* to B grade (72.4%) at the Royal Hospital School is the highest the school has gained, except for Teacher Assessed Grades (TAG 2021), reflecting the continued upward trend of performance from the school’s Sixth Form.

St Benedict’s School

A-level students at St Benedict’s School, Ealing are celebrating outstanding results: 61.3% of all the exams taken have been graded A*/A. Nine students have achieved straight A* grades in at least 3 subjects all of whom are heading to Oxford University in the coming years.

St Dunstan’s College

Year 13 students at St Dunstan’s College have been celebrating their exceptional A Level results today, which when compared with previous public examination results at the College are the best-ever on record. 29% of all A Level grades were A*, with 63% either A* or A, and 88% grades A*-B. 10% of students achieved 3 A* grades or higher, with multiple students achieving 4 A*s, and over a third of students awarded at least 3 As.

St Edmund’s College

St Edmund’s College pupils achieved impressive A-level results this year with 74% of all entries being graded A* to B. We are delighted for all the pupils who have had to work so hard for these fantastic results over what has been a very disrupted and challenging time.

St George’s Ascot

Continuing the positive upwards trajectory of academic results at St George’s from the pre-pandemic years of public exams, pupils achieved 100% A*-A in French, 57% A*-A in Maths and 100% A*-B in Geography, Chemistry, Politics, Drama and Fine Art among other impressive outcomes. In addition, nearly all Sixth Formers at St George’s undertake the EPQ, an independent research project highly regarded by universities, and this year’s results were outstanding with 71% at A*-A grades.

St George’s College Weybridge

Overall for St George’s, more than 60% of papers (61.5% compared with 55% in 2019) were graded A*/A, and almost 89% were graded A*/B compared with 81.4% in 2019.

St Helen’s School

St Helen’s School for girls in the heart of Northwood in North London, is delighted to share that 94% of the Y13 cohort achieved A*- B grades, compared to 76% in 2019 (the last public exam series pre-pandemic). 78% of all grades were A* and A (compared to 45% in 2019) and 43 girls achieved A*s and As across all their subjects.

St Mary’s Calne

Girls from St Mary’s Calne will be heading off to a wide range of leading universities including Oxford, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Courtauld Institute of Art, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Imperial College London, Loughborough, Newcastle, UCL and York. In addition, students are holding offers for top international universities in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Spain and the USA.

Stoke College

Stoke College students are to be congratulated on their outstanding A Level results once again. To achieve 92% A* to C grades is a remarkable achievement. That five students, including our Mark Wang Scholars, received 100% A* to A in Mathematics deserves particular mention.

St Peter’s York

88% of results were awarded at A* to B, a third of all grades were at A* (with 65% at A* to A). 20 pupils achieved 3 or more A* grades and 11 pupils achieved four A Levels at A*/A. Alongside A Levels, many pupils have also completed the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) whilst others have continued working towards their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, music and LAMDA grades and competing at a high level in many sports.

St Peter’s York

Taunton School

Almost half of all qualifications at Taunton School (48%) were graded A*-A or equivalent today as sixth formers celebrate the results of the first exams since the pandemic. 72% of all results across more than 30 different subjects received grades A*-B or equivalent, with half of all subjects scoring at least 75% A*-B. In BTEC, 96% of grades were either Distinction* or Distinction (equivalent to A* or A), with 100% of BTEC business students achieving all Distinction* or Distinction.

Wellington School

Wellington School’s Class of 2022 were celebrating after receiving some excellent A-level and BTEC results. 16 students achieved at least 3 A or A* grades including Jonathan Ma, Joe Woodward and Alex Xu who all achieved an impressive 4 A* grades each. There were also some great results for those students completing their Sports BTEC Level 3 National Diploma, with both Ciaran Gray and Jonty Millington achieving top distinctions with D*D grades.

Wellington School

West Buckland School

After two years of disruption due to covid, and with a cohort of students who had not sat a public exam before this summer, West Buckland School is proud of its Sixth Form’s academic results. Eleven students achieved three A*s and above, with three of those achieving four A* and one an outstanding five A*s. Sixteen students achieved all A*s and As and over 50% of grades were scored at this highest level.

Wetherby Senior School

Wetherby Senior’s Class of 2022 will now join top universities in the UK, continental Europe and North America after 50% of A Level grades were awarded at A* and A, and 79% of A Level grades awarded at A* to B.
