Can this non-invasive treatment really give you an at-home ‘face lift’?
When a product promises to give you a transformative, non-invasive ‘face lift’ in the comfort of your own home, how can you resist? Doctor-led brand 111SKIN’s new four-week Exosome Face Lift treatment reflects growing consumer demand for science-backed, regenerative skincare – without the fuss or downtime. What’s particularly exciting is that exosome therapy, originally used only in clinical skin treatments, is now available as part of at-home protocols. One of the most powerful innovations in skin regeneration and anti-ageing treatments, these nano-sized messengers are credited with stimulating collagen production, repairing skin damage and calming inflammation at a cellular level.
C&TH Beauty Lab: 111SKIN Exosome Face Lift
The Product
Devised by Harley Street cosmetic surgeon and 111SKIN founder Dr Yannis Alexandrides, this is a two-step anti-ageing programme, consisting of a serum and overnight mask. Through his clinical work at 111 Harley St, Dr Yannis discovered an innovative delivery mechanism with similar benefits to microneedling. But where microneedling involves downtime and professional supervision, this at-home, needle-free treatment offers a more gradual, gentler alternative, ideal for those with sensitive skin.
Enter microspicules. Derived from hydrolysed freshwater sponges, they are tiny, needle-like structures that infuse exosomes into the epidermis, creating micro-channels that stimulate collagen production, speed up cell turnover and increase the absorption of actives by up to 3,000 percent. It’s no wonder these miniscule multi-taskers have been dubbed ‘liquid microneedling’, helping exosomes to reach twice as deep into the skin.

The treatment itself is comprised of two products: the Exosome Shot Serum and the Exosome Overnight Mask. While the former harnesses microspicules to help boost and regenerate the skin barrier, the latter works as a rejuvenating treatment to calm redness and inflammation and encourage skin repair during sleep. The inclusion of milk thistle extract also helps to remove damaging senescent (so-called ‘zombie’) cells.
The Clinical Bit
In a self-assessment trial of 30 participants, 97 percent agreed that their skin appeared visibly lifted after four weeks of using this fast-acting duo, 97 percent found that deep set lines and wrinkles appeared reduced, and 93 percent said their skin appeared visibly tightened. Based on a clinical grading measure using a 10-point scale and instrumental testing using a cutometer device, the products were proven to lift the skin by 20 percent and increase firmness by 23 percent.
As part of its clinical trials, 111Skin followed a laser light-based technique testing method to establish how well an active ingredient passes through the skin. The device reads the ‘light signals’ to show what ingredient is present in the skin and how deep it has penetrated. The brand compared two formulas to measure how much the skin permeability was improved as a result of using its microspicule technology to deliver lactosome deeper into the skin. It found that the formula with microspicules was delivered further into the skin.

The Test Drive
What I liked about these synergistic products was the fact that you used them every night for 28 days and then stop – job done. Knowing that I could expect to see visible results within a relatively short time frame made it far easier to commit, too.
The serum and overnight mask came packaged in a stylish black box, together with comprehensive instructions. I knew, for example, to expect a slight tingling sensation when I applied the serum. Fortunately, this only lasted momentarily, and my skin felt pleasantly hydrated before I moved on to step two: massaging four pumps of the mask evenly over my face, neck and décolletage. As instructed, I left it on overnight (it acts as an occlusive layer, so no moisturiser needed), knowing that the blend of powerful plant extracts and 111SKIN’s proprietary NAC Y2TM ingredient complex were working hard to repair and rejuvenate my skin.
I can’t say that I noticed an immediate difference, but by week three my mature combination skin felt distinctly tighter and firmer. One of the most gratifying changes was the significant reduction in pore size. Having always felt self-conscious about the enlarged pores on my nose, due to my oily T-zone, it came as a welcome surprise to find their appearance had visibly diminished. My face also felt incredibly smooth and plumped. You’re advised to avoid retinoids and acids during usage, although these can be reintroduced within 48 hours of finishing the treatment. And if you need a top up, the protocol can be repeated up to four times a year.

The Verdict
Dr Yannis believes that exosomes are the future of skincare, due to their ‘remarkable ability to stimulate cell-to-cell communication, prompting the skin to repair, regenerate and rejuvenate.’ Naturally, as we age, exosome production and efficiency declines, leading to volume loss, sagging and wrinkles.
When formulated and delivered correctly, exosome treatments can boost collagen production by up to 300 percent and elastin by 100 percent, which makes them a gamechanger in the field of regenerative aesthetics, according to Dr Yannis. At-home treatments such as 111SKIN’s Exosome Face Lift may deliver more gradual results, but they’re ideal for ongoing maintenance, sensitive skin or anyone looking to avoid invasive procedures.
