The beloved comedy series isn't going anywhere
Good news for fans of Last One Laughing: Prime Video has confirmed the smash-hit comedy show will be returning for a third season in 2027, as well as a Halloween special later this year.
Hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr alongside deputy Roisin Conaty, the competition shot to success after its first season last year, becoming one of the most-streamed shows on Prime Video in the UK just days after its release. So fans are unsurprisingly already excited for season 3, but what do we know so far?
What Is Last One Laughing?
The comedy show has one simple rule: laugh, and you’re out. Ten comics are trapped in a room for six hours and challenged to try and make one another laugh by undertaking different sketches, characters and jokes, all while keeping a straight face themselves. The comedians will be given a yellow card for one smile or laugh, while a second sees them eliminated from the game. Whoever lasts the longest without cracking will be crowned the winner.
Last One Laughing was adapted from a Japanese gameshow called Documental, which first aired in 2016. While new to the UK, the show’s format has been successful around the globe, with versions in Australia, Canada, Brazil and Germany. Last One Laughing Ireland, also available on Prime Video, is hosted by Graham Norton.
Who Stars On Season 2?
Season 2 is currently streaming on Prime Video; the season was split into three parts with new episodes airing each week.
The line-up features big names in British comedy including Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr and reigning Last One Laughing champion Bob Mortimer, along with Romesh Ranganathan (Rob & Romesh Vs, The Weakest Link), Mel Giedroyc (Great British Bake Off, Light Lunch), David Mitchell (Peep Show, Would I Lie To You), Maisie Adams (Mock the Week, Taskmaster), Sam Campbell (Taskmaster, Edinburgh Comedy Festival Winner 2022), Diane Morgan (Motherland, Mandy, After Life), Amy Gledhill (Run Away), and Gbemisola Ikumelo (Famalam, Black Ops).
Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty have returned to host the second season. Carr is a regular host of comedy shows including The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and 8 Out of 10 Cats, while Conaty created and starred in the Channel 4 show GameFace. Both comedians have been confirmed to host the Halloween Special and season 3 next year.
Podcast Spin-Off
To accompany season 2 of Last One Laughing, the show has been given a podcast spinoff The Last Laugh: The Last One Laughing Podcast, hosted by Conaty.
The podcast goes live after each episode and sees Conaty dissect the events of the main show and share backstage gossip alongside celebrity guests and comedians from the first season. This will be Conaty’s debut as a podcast host.
Conaty said on Instagram: ‘I will be chatting with amazing guests about all the Last One Laughing shenanigans both on screen and off. Do give it a listen, we had a lovely time making it.’
When Is Last One Laughing Season 3 Out?
The exact date of next year’s third season is yet to be released, but fans will have the Halloween Special to look forward to in the meantime. The first five episodes of LOL: Last One Laughing UK are streaming now on Amazon Prime Video. The finale will be released on 2 April.
