One Ground & Grow retreat weekend for two at THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay on either 24-26 November 2023 (2 nights) or 19- 21 January 2024 (2 nights)

Need to get back to nature? We’ve got just the ticket. We’ve teamed up with THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay to offer one lucky reader the chance to embark on a Cornish winter retreat in collaboration with Cabilla Cornwall on either 24 – 26 November 2023 or 19 – 21 January 2024. The first ever retreat to be run at any PIG hotel, the ‘Ground & Grow’ weekend escape has been carefully crafted to help guests slow down, reconnect with nature, and find some time just for you.

A unique Cornish bolthole, THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay is a cosy and characterful restaurant with rooms, just a stone’s throw from a beautifully sandy beach and a ten-minute drive from the town of Padstow. Refreshing sea air and cool sand between your toes: it may be winter, but guests of the ‘Ground & Grow’ retreat will get a rejuvenating ocean experience with cold water immersion on the retreat’s final morning, followed by a much-needed thaw in a beachside sauna.

By the time that final release rolls around, you’ll feel totally reconnected with nature. Think lovely strolls around THE PIG’s grassy grounds (perhaps including a peep around the Kitchen Garden), deep inhalations of the blustery sea air, and dining on THE PIG’s famed 25 Mile Menu which sources all ingredients from within 25 miles of the hotel – and that’s just on arrival on the Friday.

On Saturday, a 40-minute car journey will whisk guests to Bodmin Moor’s Cabilla Cornwall, the mystical wellness centre that Ground & Grow has been created in partnership with. This is where that natural connection really happens: tour the ancient temperate rainforest, all the while mesmerised by the ardent words of Merlin, Cabilla’s charismatic Founder. Walk barefoot, if you like, and pause for a moment beside the babbling freshwater stream, all before taking nature by the root and planting your own oak tree as part of Cabilla’s Thousand Year Project. Then it’s to the elegant converted barn to gather up all of that natural connection and draw it into the body, guided through a gentle movement glass by another enchanting voice, Pippa, atop thick, comforting mats and accompanied by magical live cello music.

Back at THE PIG, indulge in one of the Potting Shed treatments, included in your prize. Tucked at the back of the idyllic Kitchen Garden, the two cosy treatment rooms are serene and truly unique, adorned with characterful decor inspired by the gardens just beyond the door. Feel your knotty shoulders uncoil with the Upper Body Unwind after a long day of walking and soaking up the magic of the natural world – or keep it grounded with a mud wrap, or experience the restorative powers of the ocean with one of the rejuvenating facials.

All the while, you’ll be resting your weary head in one of THE PIG’s double rooms, complete with a cavernous bath and sumptuous natural products, perfect for thawing your bones at the end of the day. Then flop into the cocooning, cloud-like bed for an incredible night’s sleep in pitch darkness. Again, character rules the day, with wood-clad interiors emitting a sweet and homely smell, lovely plump cushions, and tins brimming with delicious herbal tea bags and Nespresso pods ready to be popped into your KitchenAid coffee machine.

Competition closes on Sunday 12 November 2023. For more information, visit thepighotel.com
