Steeped in history, Telegraphenamt is housed in Berlin’s former Telegraph office, which was considered Germany’s most sophisticated postal building. Spearheaded by renowned Berlin proprietor Roland Mary, the historically listed building was lovingly restored and modernised, reopening as Telegraphenamt in late 2022 to enrich the neighbourhoods around Hackesche Höfe, Auguststrasse and Torstrasse with its diverse offerings of culture, venue, and gastronomy.
The lavishly restored historic building boasts 97 charming rooms and maisonettes, all serving as retreats in the metropolis. Inspired by the Berlin of the 1920s, the building’s history itself and the current lifestyle of the city, the original building elements such as historic columns, capped ceilings and exposed brick walls have been integrated into the modern interior design. Rooms facing Monbijoupark afford distinctive perspectives of Berlin, including views of the TV Tower, the Berlin Cathedral, and the red City Hall. The seven maisonettes, with 14 foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, offer an unparalleled experience of the city.

Telegraphenamt is also home to destination restaurant ROOT. With a versatile offering, ROOT has influences from across the globe, which is rendered regionally with most of the ingredients being sourced locally. Behind the concept is the team of Roland Mary, who operates several restaurants in Berlin including the iconic Borchardt (a celebrity favourite, with past guests including George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna, and Barack Obama). Guests can also enjoy bespoke cocktails at ROOT bar: where chic ambience meets eclectic cocktail art. The hotel’s meeting and event spaces, meanwhile, have played backdrop to Berlin Fashion Week parties.
Competition closes on 1 May 2024.
