This historic home features 63 chimneys and views over 150 acres of parkland
As the whole world zeros in on the pop-culture wedding of the century between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, one guest in particular pulled focus. It was, naturally, Hugh Grant in all his tuxedoed glory – along with his wife, television producer Anna Eberstein. Famously, it is not the first wedding the star has attended. We know for certain that he’s attended at least four, or at least his character Charles did in Richard Curtis’s aptly titled 1994 box-office hit Four Weddings and a Funeral.
It’s a film that has long drawn praise for its stellar casting, enviable friendship dynamics, and, importantly, its locations. Although set all around the British Isles, from Somerset to Scotland, filming took place entirely in London and the surrounding home counties. Now, just 20 minutes outside of central London, a ground-floor apartment is for sale for £1.795m in the very building where Carrie (Andie MacDowell) married her Scottish husband, Hamish (Corin Redgrave).
Take A Look Inside Albury Park Mansion

The historic country house, Albury Park Mansion, is set in sweeping parkland near Guildford, Surrey. Dating back to the 15th century, the Grade II listed house was designed by Augustus Pugin, the same architect behind the interiors of the Houses of Parliament. Owned by the Drummond family, the house became part of the Duke of Northumberland’s estate in 1845 when he married Louisa Drummond. The duchy retained the property until 1969, when the house was sold and split up into luxury apartments.
The Richard Curtis cult classic is not the only filming that has taken place on the grounds. Albury Park was featured in a Channel 4 television series, Country House Rescue, in December 2008 and November 2009. As well as multiple seasons of ITV’s long-running mystery drama Midsomer Murders. Previously, the property was listed for £3.1m in 2020.
Redesigned at a time when Gothic revival was at its peak, Pugin employed his recognisably craftsmanship to give the exterior a Gothic Tudor appearance with its decorative quoin brick work, a battlemented stone tower at the north-west corner of the building, and 63 individual candlestick chimneys. The apartment enjoys a ground-floor position overlooking the private topiary gardens.
The ground floor apartment spans 3,003 sqft of internal living space across its three bedrooms, three bathrooms, one study, utility room, a guest cloakroom, and one large reception room. There is also a bar and private roof terrace. Acquired by the current owners in 2020, the home has undergone extensive modernisation. Period features such as deep bay windows, fireplaces, wooden floors, and elegant cornicing have been retained while many modern elements have also been introduced. There is Rako lighting throughout the property, in-ceiling speakers, accessible direct lift access, and a top-range Banham security system.
The drawing room is lined with bespoke floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and has views over the manicured communal gardens and 150 acres of parkland beyond. The adjoining kitchen and dining room have been designed by Harvey Jones and fitted with the highest specification appliances by Miele. Each bathroom features Bathroom tiles and sanitary ware by Porcelanosa made from Italian white Carrara marble. The apartment also benefits from a private garage and a further designated parking space at the front of the house.
The wider Surrey Hills Area is one of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering miles of glorious countryside to residents, from the slopes of St Martha’s Hill to the waters of Silent Pool. The River Tillingbourne runs alongside the parkland itself.
On the market for £1.795m. Find out more at sothebysrealty.co.uk
