The Guest kicks off tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC One
From the producers of Netflix’s hit Harlan Coben mysteries Fool Me Once and Missing You comes a twisty new four-part thriller, this time airing on the BBC. At the fore are Eve Myles and Gabrielle Creevy who star as Fran and Ria, two women from very different worlds who form an intense, beguiling and ultimately toxic bond. Premiering on BBC One tomorrow night, we sat down with Gabrielle to find out more about The Guest.

Hi Gabrielle, how’s life going at the moment?
Life is pretty quiet and calm right now.
You are about to star in The Guest on the BBC. Can you give us an elevator pitch for the series?
The Guest is an edge of your seat thriller set in Wales, following two women whose paths cross, and due to a shocking event they become intertwined forever. Unfortunately.
You play Ria – how would you describe her, and what was it like playing her?
Ria is clever and wise beyond her years. Hardworking. She’s ambitious and has big dreams but no way of reaching them. She’s the sort of person you’d want in your corner. Loyal.
As for playing her, it was challenging actually. A lot happens to her in the show, so prep was important. Making sure it was interesting by mapping it out and not playing everything the same. Picking certain moments, or at least having an idea of certain moments.

How did you get into character, and did you do anything special to prepare for the role?
After reading the scripts for the first time, so many people I knew came to mind. I guess I knew a lot of Rias – people who I think have the characteristics that she would have. So I drew off of them, asking myself: how would they react in this situation?
You star opposite Eve Myles, and your characters form a close bond. What was that like to develop together?
A lot of the developing happened on the floor. Eve is a very generous actress (who I was thrilled to be working with, by the way) and every take was something new – which kept me on my toes! And is the fun part about acting! We only really had a handful of conversations before we began filming.
Any standout moments from rehearsals or filming?
Filming in the Gower for sure. Lush to see that part of Wales on the screen.
At the end of 2024, Gabrielle starred in Netflix’s Black Doves. (L-R: Gabrielle Creevy, Katherine Hunter & Ella Lily Hyland in Black Doves © Netflix)
You recently starred in Black Doves. What was that like?
So much fun! I acquired a few new stunt skills as I’m not the most graceful but yes, brilliant people and brilliant scripts.
What has been your favourite project to date?
All the projects I’ve been involved in have all been a favourite for different reasons. And I’m not up for offending anyone. But I would say Amadeus was a favourite in terms of how it challenged me – and the costumes! I love clothes, costumes and all that stuff, so it was so fun to dress up.
Any other roles in the pipeline that you’re excited about? (If you’re allowed to tell us!)
Wholeheartedly, I cannot say!
Later this year Gabrielle will star opposite Will Sharpe as Mozart’s wife Constanze Weber in Sky’s new series Amadeus. (© Sky)
What’s a genre you’d like to do more of?
Horror.
Do you get to spend much time at home? How do you spend your free time?
I probably spend too much time at home. I told myself I would carry on learning the piano after Amadeus. It never happened.
How can we all live a little bit better?
By turning off our phones.
