It might be the height of summer right now, but hardcore Great British Bake Off fans will already be wondering about when the autumnal favourite is returning to our screens. In 2024, Love Productions, the production company behind the series, confirmed it will be back for a 16th edition in 2025, inviting hopefuls to enter the prestigious competition. So when can we get our fix? And will the normal cohort of judges be returning? Here’s everything we know so far.

When Is Great British Bake Off 2025 On TV?

There’s no word of a release date for Great British Bake Off 2025 just yet. However, the show typically premieres in September. The exact date varies, but it’s always around mid to late September on a Tuesday evening: last year, the series began airing on 24 September 2024, the previous year it was 26 September 2023, and the year before it was slightly earlier, on 13 September 2022.

Who Are The Judges For 2025?

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s thought Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be returning to judge the competition. Hollywood has been a judge on the show every year since its beginnings in 2010, while Leith joined in 2017, taking over from Mary Berry.

In 2024, Leith stepped away from judging sister show Celebrity Bake Off, saying: ‘[The one] I’m not doing this year is the celebrity one and it’s mainly because these things are filmed back-to-back the whole way through the summer.’ Her friend Caroline Waldegrave OBE, former Managing Director and co-owner of Leiths School of Food and Wine, took her place for the 2025 series. For 2026, Singaporean pastry chef Cherish Finden will reportedly join Hollywood in judging the celebrities.

However, during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, Leith confirmed that doesn’t mean she’s leaving Great British Bake Off. ‘I keep being asked if I’m leaving. This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn’t had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I’ve only given up Celebrity [Bake Off].’

She added: ‘I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all.

‘It’s the best job in telly. It’s absolutely the best job in telly, I don’t have to learn lines, I don’t have to have a script. I don’t have to rehearse. I just walk on and eat cake.’

Who Are The Hosts?

It’s thought that Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond will return to host the 2025 show. Fielding has co-presented the show since 2017, while Hammond joined in 2023, replacing Matt Lucas. The pair also present Celebrity Bake Off together, which will return in spring 2026.

Who Won Great British Bake Off 2024?

Last year, Welsh paediatric nurse Georgie Grasso took home the crown, beating fellow finalists Christiaan De Vries, and fan favourite Dylan Bachelet. ‘Being the first Welsh baker in the final was a massive achievement in itself, so to have won it is just the best feeling in the world,’ said Grasso. ‘The fact that I did it for Wales was amazing, it felt so surreal and my legs went to jelly.’
