Featuring stars from The Day of the Jackal and Top Boy, here’s why Hit Point is in the headlines

If there’s one thing Brits love, it’s a crime drama. From Line of Duty to Happy Valley, some of the most successful television series of the past decade centre on high stakes investigations as salt of the earth coppers zero in on the twister perpetrators.

If a channel were to make its very first scripted drama, then, you would probably expect a crime drama – and that’s exactly what U&Dave has done. One subset of UKTV, the company behind the hugely successful cosy-crime drama Bookish, you will know U&Dave best as a comedy channel – but Hit Point is anything but.

With a stellar cast locked in and first-look pictures revealed, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming drama.

Hit Point: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More

Produced by Urban Myth Films (the company behind Paris Has Fallen and The Lazarus Project), U&Dave is not pulling any punches with its first original drama. In charge of the scripts is BAFTA-winning writer Howard Overman, who has previously worked across Misfits and The War of the Worlds. Meanwhile director David Caffrey was behind the camera, with previous credits across hits like The Gentlemen and Peaky Blinders.

Similar to those titles, we are told to expect an ‘adrenaline-charged’, ‘high-stakes crime thriller’. But it’s not just that: there’s a sizzling romance at the centre, too.

The Plot

Backdropped by the West London underworld, Hit Point centres on two 30-something detectives, Leo (Nick Blood) and Bella (Saffron Hocking), with a new case to crack. But as they hunt for answers, a new danger arises: love. Expect all the twists and turns of the crime dramas we adore, but with an extra weight added to every betrayal.

…And that’s all we know. First announced back in August 2025, U&Dave has remained pretty tight-lipped about the crime Leo and Bella face so far – and if you take a look at the whimsical teaser below, you will learn even less.

When Hit Point was first revealed to be in the works by UKTV, the company’s head of commissioning Helen Perry described it as ‘a cop show like no other’, adding: ‘With his singular voice, Howard has crafted a tense crime thriller that’s driven by a characterful will-they-won’t-they romance. It’s a distinctive genre mash-up, full of heart, humour and action-packed sequences.’

The Cast

Blood and Hocking lead the drama as that will-they-won’t-they duo, both known for their work on other hit crime dramas. For Blood, this includes Strike, Slow Horses, Joan and The Day of the Jackal – as well as a small role as Cassie’s heroin-addicted father in Sam Levinson’s headline-making teen drama Euphoria.

Hocking meanwhile is best known for her roles in Top Boy, White Gold and The Devil’s Hour. And while we don’t know what Leo and Bella will be getting up to, the full cast they will be joined by is below.

  • Nick Blood as Leo
  • Saffron Hocking as Bella
  • William Abadie as Pascal
  • Brendan Coyle as Michael
  • Peter Serafinowicz as Carter
  • Nadia Parkes as Sophia
  • Moe Bar-El as Dylan
  • Ossian Perret as Lucas
  • Joshua Sher as Alfie
