Bathe in the glow of these festive lights
Last year, London unveiled its first displays of Ramadan lights to observe this special month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community among Muslims. The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is taking place from 10 March–9 April in 2024, culminating with Eid – so make sure you see these glittering displays before then.

Ramadan Lights are on! ✨
Fantastic to see so many Londoners and visitors welcome the return of this spectacular display to the West End. I was honoured to be invited to be part of the switch on for a second year. pic.twitter.com/QX61dpGUdq

Leicester Square
The official Ramadan lights display for 2024 is in Leicester Square, a swathe of 30,000 lights switched on by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. The display stretches all the way from Picadilly Circus along Coventry Street to Leicester Square, and it’ll shine until 16 April. Funded by the Aziz Foundation, the ‘Sundial’ design reflects the transition from sunrise (suhoor) to sunset (iftar) during Ramadan.
Edgware Road
A new-for-2024 Ramadan display is standing proudly at Nutford Place (between Edgware Road and Marble Arch) until 10 April. A bespoke installation standing at 2.9 metres tall, expect a glittering crescent moon that you can pose with, inside and all around. It’ll be lit up everyday from 6am–11pm.
This is only the second year that Ramadan lights have been lit in London. Hopefully, in 2025, we’ll see even more displays popping up across the city.
