How To Make TikTok’s Viral 5-Minute Breakfast Sandwich

Need a quick brekkie fix? You might want to try TikTok‘s viral five-minute breakfast sandwich, which promises a fast (and tasty) morning meal.

What Is A Breakfast Sandwich?

As its name implies, a breakfast sandwich consists of two pieces of bread filled with a spread of traditional breakfast items – ranging from eggs and bacon to sausages, avocado and hashbrowns. Now, we’re no stranger to the humble breakfast sandwich (thank you Tesco meal deal), but what many of us crave is a way to make the most important meal of the day land on our plates just that little bit quicker.

TikTok, the home of many a viral foodie trend, might just have the answer. Its take on the classic breakfast sandwich promises to deliver a hearty meal in just five minutes – all you need is a hot pan, bread and your fillings of choice.

The recipe has been replicated by numerous  creators on the platform, who start by filling a hot frying pan with whisked eggs. While the eggs are still wet, they then place two pieces of bread in the pan parallel to one another, before flipping the bread and letting the egg mixture cook through. This is where the fun bit kicks in; flipping the whole thing (egg, bread and all), they place their fillings on one slice of bread and then fold the other slice over it with the egg filling lining the sandwich. In other words, instant breakfast sandwich.

As mentioned, the choice of fillings are completely up to you, so you can add cheese, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms – pretty much anything you fancy. But to keep the sandwich-making time to a minimum, it’s advised you stick to easy fillings you can just pull out of the fridge.

Recipe: 5-Minute Breakfast Sandwich

Ready to make your morning that little bit better? Here’s our take on TikTok’s viral five-minute breakfast sandwich – enjoy!


  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • A slice or a handful of grated cheese (we recommend cheddar)
  • 2 slices of ham
  • A handful of cherry tomatoes, halved
  • A handful of lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 an avocado, sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chilli flakes, to serve (optional)


  1. Start by whisking your eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper, until mixed together. Heat up a frying pan and add a little bit of butter, then pour in your egg mixture.
  2. Place two slices of bread in the pan, making sure the face-down side gets covered in the egg mixture, then flip them. Cook with the bread still in the pan until the egg mixture is no longer liquid.
  3. Flip the now-omelette with the bread over, then begin adding your toppings to one slice of bread. Fold the other piece of bread over to close the sandwich (you might need to cut off or fold over any omelette hanging over the sides of the bread), then remove it from the pan entirely. Serve up and enjoy.
