The Berkeley’s Rooftop Bar Is Back With A Capri-Inspired Look

Home to a heated swimming pool and boasting views of the city skyline, The Berkeley’s rooftop is legendary. For the majority of the year, it’s reserved for hotel guests, but during the summer the space opens up to the public. This May, the bar is back, and it’s looking more chic than ever thanks to an Italian makeover.

Capri in the City: What To Expect At The Berkeley’s Rooftop Bar

Capri in the City is The Berkeley’s new summer pop-up, designed to bring a taste of la dolce vita to Knightsbridge. Inspired by the dazzling Italian island of Capri – known for its jaw-dropping sea views and glamorous vibe – the bar will have the feel of a laid-back beach club, surrounded by lemon trees.

For the first time, the hotel is introducing a pizza oven to its rooftop. Guests can choose from decadent toppings combinations like lobster and marinated peppers, artichokes with anchovies and Taggiasca olives, and parma ham with rocket and parmesan. Alongside this, there will be sharing platters showcasing the best of Italian produce, piled high with prosciutto, baby tomato and basil bruschetta, Mortadella, marinated octopus and caprese salad. 

Those craving something sweet, meanwhile, can enjoy sharing tiramisu, or Amalfi lemon sorbet served with a drop of Limoncello.

Drinks, meanwhile, come courtesy of Malfy Gin, with highlights including Azzurro di Capri, a twist on the G&T made with Malfy Con Limone, Italicus, blue Curaçao and Cedrata, the Capri Negroni, a white negroni with citrus notes, and the frozen Amalfi Gin Granita – sure to hit the spot on warmer days. There will also be spritzes, craft beers and wines on offer.

The Berkeley is one of London’s finest five-star hotels. Alongside the rooftop, it’s home to the recently opened La Mome London, an offshoot of the French Riviera restaurant, plus a bakery from esteemed pastry chef Cedric Grolet.
