The Nici – Bournemouth, Dorset

Opened last year on West Cliff, a zig-zagging path away from Bournemouth’s seven-mile stretch of sandy beaches, The Nici is a globally inspired beauty. Rooms and suites feel modern and fresh, with palm tree print cushions and upholstery, cool contemporary artworks and fun touches such as a gold-edged drinks trolley. Some come with a sea view and private terrace, others overlook the garden and have an outdoor hot tub. On the ground floor is the South Beach Bar & Restaurant for all-day dining, from an indulgent breakfast, a light lunch or supper (dishes include fish and chips, Moroccan lamb shoulder and black truffle risotto). Cabanas are arranged around the 30m heated outdoor pool, there is a lovely terrace for sundowners, daily cinema screenings and an activity centre where you can borrow body boards for the beach. Open spring 2023 is a membership programme and the spa. The latter includes an indoor pool, steam room and aromatherapy sauna, a treatment menu that ranges from bamboo massages to sound therapy, and group fitness sessions such as boardwalk runs and paddle board yoga.
