An independent day school educating children aged 3 to 16, Argyle House holds a strong reputation for academic excellence in Sunderland and the North East. As a school deeply rooted in family values, children are taught and helped to develop into strong individual characters in a safe and caring environment.

John Forsyth, Founder and CEO of Forfar Education, commented on the acquisition and said: ‘We are exceptionally pleased to announce that Argyle House has joined our special family of schools. The school has a great history of academic and sporting excellence.

‘It is, like Forfar Education, an institution deeply rooted in family values. We both believe those values are an integral part for the successful growth of the next generation. It is a school where children of all abilities are given every opportunity to develop, progress and gain the confidence they need, to be happy and successful whatever path they decide to choose.

‘We very much welcome Argyle House School and its outstanding Head, Chris Johnson into the Forfar fold, and look forward to embarking on this next chapter with them.’

With no change in the day-to-day management or ethos of the school, Forfar’s aim is to work closely with Headteacher Chris Johnson, providing support and investment while enabling staff members to continue providing a first-class education.

Argyle House’s Headteacher Chris Johnson added: ‘This is an exciting opportunity for Argyle House School, and the team and I look forward to partnering with Forfar Education as we take this positive step. Being part of Forfar, with their strong focus on traditional family values, preserves our character and ethos for the generations to come.

‘It will enable us to build upon our many successes and further enhance what we are able to offer as a school, continuing to develop an environment in which children enjoy learning, in a down to earth manner, both inside and outside the classroom.’

Forfar believes in a broad holistic education, one that stretches children to their potential, that embeds resilience through team sports, class activities and pastoral care, as well as one that provides an exposure to the great outdoors and the world at large.  Its aim is to produce confident well-mannered children, with a strong work ethic who are capable of making the right decisions to ensure their happiness, whatever the future may hold.

Founded in 2016, Forfar Education consists of an experienced team of education specialists who are passionate about the education of children.  The group currently owns and operates a family of high achieving UK independent schools each with their own nurseries: Brackenfield Preparatory School in Harrogate, The Gleddings Preparatory School in Halifax, Bournemouth-based Park School & Nursery, the Dean Park Day Nursery Bournemouth, Horris Hill School in Hampshire, Cameron Vale School in Chelsea and The Chelsea Nursery.
