The Curriculum
Elmhurst understands the importance of a curriculum with literacy at its heart. The school provides a broad, challenging curriculum that enables pupils to thrive and supports them in their preparations for 11+ entry to local grammar and independent schools.
Games & The Arts
Sport, drama and outdoor learning together with art and music ensure life at Elmhurst is always varied and performance opportunities plentiful. Children are encouraged to take part in a range of activities through the curriculum and extensive extra-curricular clubs programme.
Pastoral Care
Elmhurst celebrates children’s achievements through certificates and house points and encourage children to follow the ‘brilliant behaviour checklist’. This creates a kind and respectful learning environment where children choose to work together, listen to each other and develop curiosity for learning. Staff pride themselves on their ability to nurture the brilliance in every individual. Within the community, there are five values that staff are encouraged to be: BRAVE, RESPECTFUL, KIND, DETERMINED AND CURIOUS.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
We truly know what is best for our learners in the classroom. I believe that we know them as individuals and our strength is to develop them as individuals, working with parents in partnership to find the right next school when the time comes. In opening our doors to girls, we do so with the knowledge that we understand how to value each individual and create the best opportunities for them to thrive.
