Curriculum
The infant and junior school prides itself on providing a caring and nurturing environment based on mutual respect and kindness. At the secondary level a breadth of study is encouraged: in addition to core subjects like English, maths and science, pupils can also learn philosophy, technology, performing arts, Spanish and French. Over 25 A level and BTEC courses are on offer to sixth form students, plus EPQ, Oxbridge and medical pathways. The average class size is 17.
Sport & The Arts
Music plays a vibrant role in school life. LVS Ascot hosts a variety of annual events and competitions such as Young Musician of the Year and the Performing Arts Marathon. Supported by specialist facilities and a strong culture of participation, the school offers art, performing arts, sport and football scholarships from year seven as well as a leading football programme for pupils in years seven to 13 in partnership with Southampton FC. Outstanding facilities include a 25m swimming pool, full-size all-weather pitch and a 250-seat theatre.
Pastoral Care
LVS Ascot takes pupils’ health and wellbeing seriously. A bespoke health and wellbeing centre on site provides triage throughout the school for all medical issues and concerns, and is staffed by qualified medical professionals. A health and wellbeing hub also supports pupils’ social, emotional and mental health; they can visit to share their feelings and receive guidance on managing anxiety positively, learn stress-relieving techniques and undertake mindfulness activities.
Exit Destinations
LVS Ascot prepares pupils for success beyond school, with pathways from year ten to leading universities, medicine, creative arts, fashion and design. Pupils progress to diverse and ambitious destinations.
Head’s Philosophy
To create a culture of high standards, trust and inclusion where young people thrive academically and personally. Education must prepare pupils for a changing world through innovation, character, creativity, critical thinking and strong human values.
