Curriculum
Moon Hall School delivers a child-centred curriculum tailored to individual needs, adapting the National Curriculum to maximise access and achievement. Small classes (with a maximum of 14) and specialist teaching support strong foundations in literacy and numeracy through expert dyslexia-informed, multi-sensory approaches. A broad curriculum includes science, humanities, IT, art, PE, textiles, digital media, e-sports and food technology. At GCSE, personalised pathways across five exam boards help pupils achieve their full potential.
Sport & The Arts
Moon Hall offers a wide range of sporting and creative opportunities that build confidence, teamwork and self-expression. Pupils enjoy fixtures, games and outdoor learning, including forest school in the school’s extensive grounds. Creative arts are central to school life, with art, digital media, animation and other creative subjects taught by specialist staff. Small class sizes encourage participation and support, enabling every pupil to develop their talents, skills and interests in sport and the arts.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is at the heart of everything staff do at Moon Hall. Pupils join having experienced frustration, anxiety or low self-esteem in previous schools. A specialist, whole-school approach ensures every child is understood, supported and empowered to succeed. Staff are trained in dyslexia and support is embedded throughout the school day. Small classes, personalised learning and a nurturing environment help pupils build confidence, resilience and self-belief, enabling them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Exit Destinations
Pupils progress to a range of sixth forms, colleges and specialist post-16 providers, securing places on A level, BTEC and vocational courses tailored to their strengths, interests and ambitions.
Head’s Philosophy
To ensure every child has access to an education that enables them to succeed beyond dyslexia. Through specialist support, barrier-free learning and a focus on confidence, resilience and independence, we equip pupils with the skills, strategies and self-belief to thrive in education, work and life.
