In the prep school an explorer approach ensures girls use thinking skills that apply across the curriculum. The senior school is academically rigorous developing analytical, creative and lateral thinking skills building a firm foundation for sixth-form and university life.
Games & the Arts
The school offers an extensive programme of both traditional sports and over 100 co-curricular clubs including trampolining, boxing and climbing. A creative culture provides opportunities for all talents to flourish and perform in drama and music.
A focus on well-being with a strong pastoral team gives each girl the opportunity to be seen as an individual and achieve of her very best.
Girls leave our sixth-form and secure places at top institutions and study a wide range of subjects.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
We encourage independence and develop intellectual curiosity. Girls are nurtured, encouraged and challenged. Our emphasis is on the celebration and remarkable presence of girls. Our pupils are well-rounded and grounded; they are motivated and inspired; they respect fairness and have integrity; they are critical and analytical thinkers.
At Portsmouth High School we focus on well-being and through encouraging girls to take on responsibilities and leadership opportunities their confidence grows as they realise what they can achieve. Facing risks and taking on new challenges with a ‘can-do’ attitude takes them forward in leaps and bounds ready for life beyond the school gates.
