Curriculum

The school’s bespoke Elevate Curriculum empowers every girl with ‘power skills’ alongside the standard curriculum. Every pupil has access to rich educational experiences. Continuity and progression through the school enables pupils to flourish in the sixth form, taking on further challenges such as the EPQ and the school’s award-winning Mind, Body & Soul programme of tailor-made enrichment. These opportunities contribute to leavers being ready to embrace an increasingly competitive global society with self-belief and confidence.

Sport & The Arts

The school’s ‘sports for all’ approach, alongside a high performance programme for elite athletes, fosters a lifelong pursuit of mental and physical fitness. Sports include cricket, rowing, fencing, trampolining, rugby, hockey and netball. Creativity is embraced through regular concerts, pop-up exhibitions and productions three times per year. As well as academic, scholarships are available for art, drama, music and sport for year seven, nine and 12, and rowing for year 12.

Pastoral Care

Staff believe that educating the whole person leads to happy, confident and courageous children who flourish and make a positive difference to their community. Outstanding pastoral care has always been a feature of Sydenham & Dulwich Girls GDST. It is intrinsically embedded throughout the school as a whole, firmly rooted into its ethos and teaching. The girls are known and seen, valued for who they are and taught to show respect for themselves and others.

Exit Destinations

Students leave with excellent results and go on to study at a range of higher education destinations including Oxbridge, Russell Group universities, medical schools and art colleges.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

To offer intellectual challenge and creative opportunity, championing purposeful, flexible young minds and growing confidence. We prepare girls with employability skills and the agility to face the future with confidence, sure in the knowledge of who they are and the value they add.
