The Curriculum
Town Close tailors its curriculum to ensure it is broad, dynamic and inspiring, optimising the educational offering while aligning it to the school’s wider vision and ethos. A comprehensive programme of visitors, trips and workshops enhances the variety and depth of learning at every age-group stage. Thematic learning across the ages in pre-prep offers an inclusive, collaborative and immersive style of working. From year five upwards, pupils are taught by subject specialist teachers in a range of dynamic learning spaces.
Sport & The Arts
Sport is a major part of school life. Pupils gain self-confidence, develop their physical fitness, and learn a range of techniques across many sports. It is also medium through which many life skills are developed, with pupils having achieved notable regional and national success. Every child deserves the opportunity to explore, express and excel through the arts, and Town Close’s commitment to nurturing creativity is woven into the fabric of school life, offering pupils exceptional opportunities in art, music and drama.
Pastoral Care
The Town Close Way is a set of values that underpins school life and the community, giving a formal framework to the spirit that makes Town Close such a special place for pupils, staff and families alike. The school believes pupils who feel relaxed, secure and understood are more able to achieve their potential, and so there is a dedicated school counsellor, informal talk and share groups, a school sausage dog, mixed age tutor groups, an inclusive house system, and year eight wellbeing prefects.
Exit Destinations
Pupils disperse to a wide range of senior schools, locally and nationally, often achieving scholarship success across the subject areas. Popular local choices include Norwich School, Norwich High and Gresham’s.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
To believe that ‘every moment matters’. I want every pupil to have the chance to explore their interests and fulfil their potential through an education that offers a breadth of opportunity, appropriate challenge and a real commitment to helping them become the very best version of themselves.
