Everything you need to know about Chelsea's shopping hub
With over 160 shops lining its pavements, King’s Road is one of Chelsea’s – and London’s – biggest shopping hubs. And for good reason. A pop culture hotspot since the 1960s, King’s Road was the home of Swinging London – and the home of the Mary Quant mini skirt. A decade later, it was where the city’s punk rock scene really flourished, and where Vivienne Westwood set the groundwork for her iconic tartan two-piece. Its swathes of designer boutiques have drawn in all kinds of A-listers over the decades, from Mick Jagger and John Lennon to Julie Christie and Michael Caine, and the same rings true today.
With its melting pot of shops, suited to all styles and tastes, Kings Road offers a shopping experience like no other. But where to start? We’ve compiled the ultimate guide to this patch of London, with tips on where to start your retail therapy journey and our recommendations of the best shops to visit while there.

Where Is King’s Road?
Sitting in the heart of Chelsea, King’s Road stretches just under two miles from Sloane Square in the east and into the Chelsea Design Quarter in the west. Bordering Fulham, Belgravia and Knightsbridge, it bridges some of the city’s most affluent areas with a long stretch of boutiques, luxury flagships and independent retailers.
And while the main street remains the central hub, the nearby streets surrounding King’s Road also provide plenty of shopping opportunities to explore.
If you fancy taking a stroll down King’s Road, you’re best starting at Sloane Square (the tube station runs District and Circle line routes). A number of buses also serve the area and go up and down the street; for the full list of routes, see kingsroad.co.uk
