Charli XCX is the latest bride to walk down the aisle in the beloved British label

When it comes to A-list nuptials, there’s only one wedding dress designer on our minds: Vivienne Westwood. The women behind some of punk Britain’s most iconic fashion moments was also one the biggest names in bridal – and, even after her death, her label remains one of the best in the world. But who are the celebrity brides clamouring to get their hands on a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress? The most recent to join the pack is Brat superstar Charli XCX, who tapped into the label for her town wedding to The 1975 musician George Daniel. Here’s everything you need to know about the big day (plus five other Vivienne Westwood bridal moments we still think about to this day).

Charlie XCX Is The Ultimate Brat Bride In Vivienne Westwood Gown

A corseted ivory mini dress for your nuptials? That’s Brat. Charli XCX might have already declared the end Brat Summer back in 2024, but it seems she still had enough (br)attitude left in her for a final encore (at her wedding, no less).

The singer stepped out of London’s Hackney Town Hall, having just exchanged vows with now-husband George Daniel, wearing a Vivienne Westwood Nova Cora dress. And, like all other dresses from the heritage label, it debunked tradition in the best way.

Charli forewent the traditional wedding dress trappings – delicate lace, ballgown skirts, dramatic trains – in favour of a corseted mini dress made from draped ivory crepe satin. And the finishing touches? Never one to stray from her personal style, the singer teamed up her wedding dress with her signature curved sunglasses and a pair of Jimmy Choo Amita 85 Patent Leather Slingbacks. A chic look befitting the city location.

But why Westwood? Charli XCX has yet to reveal why she picked the label for her wedding day, but it’s worth remembering that the name Vivienne Westwood is something of a legend in the bridal industry. Brides of all ages, shapes and sizes have fallen in love with the designer (and now, the label’s) mastery of silhouette and drapery – exemplified by the signature Vivienne Westwood corset – as well as the rebellious streak that’s sewn into every dress. In other words, it’s couture with an edge.

And, as we mentioned above, Charli XCX is just one of many celebrity brides to choose the designer. Below, we round up some of our favourite Vivienne Westwood celebrity wedding dresses:

5 Other Celebrity Wedding Dresses Designed By Vivienne Westwood

Millie Bobby Brown

When Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown said ‘I do’, it wasn’t in one, but four, wedding dresses – the last being a Vivienne Westwood mini, which she wore while dancing into the early hours of the morning. She teamed up her Westwood moment with a messy bun and a black bow tie (pinched from her new husband, no doubt).

Demi Lovato

Another bride with multiple dresses – but Demi Lovato stood by her choice of designer by wearing two Vivienne Westwood gowns on her big day. Speaking to Vogue, the singer noted that, ‘When I was thinking about what dress style I wanted, I often found myself coming back to Vivienne’s designs—specifically how the silhouettes really complement the curves of your body and her use of corsets.’

Barbara Palvin

Hungarian model Barbara Palvin – aka, the Sprouse spouse – walked down the aisle back in 2023 wearing a custom corset dress from Vivienne Westwood, which she accessorised with a Tiffany & Co. 90s-inspired choker. (Her second dress, meanwhile, was a cherry-hued mini, following the Hungarian tradition that the bride should wear red after midnight.)

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus’s secret ceremony was the epitome of chic. An intimate affair in her hometown of Nashville, she said ‘I do’ in an off-the-shoulder, corseted draped gown crafted from ivory silk satin – blending a sophisticated silhouette with her signature punk-inspired aesthetic.

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)

Okay, so she’s not a real person – but Sex and the City‘s Carrie Bradshaw is a style icon in her own right. The voluminous gown she wore for the franchise’s first film was part of Vivienne Westwood Gold Label’s autumn/winter 2007 collection, and was reportedly inspired by diamond cutting techniques.

Unfortunately, the wedding of dreams was not meant to be – with Carrie ultimately left at the altar – but the dress didn’t go to waste. In a later season of And Just Like That, the columnist wears the dress as a last minute Met Gala outfit – wearing it with the same bright blue bird hat alongside a teal cape and matching slingback heels.
