Makeup artist and beauty entrepreneur Huda Kattan gives us full access to her makeup bag
There isn’t a beauty enthusiast alive who doesn’t know the name Huda Kattan. The Iraqi American makeup artist is a legend on the global beauty scene, having first made her mark as a beauty blogger and, later, a successful entrepreneur with her brand, Huda Beauty. It’s her unwavering love for makeup – and the creative possibilities it holds – that has made her one of the biggest names in the business. ‘For me, makeup became a way to build confidence,’ she tells C&TH. ‘When you feel good about yourself, that’s when the real beauty comes through.’ Huda Kattan takes us through the beauty heroes in her makeup bag, as well as the best beauty advice she’s ever received.
What’s Inside My Makeup Bag? With Huda Kattan

Huda Kattan
Let’s start with the bag itself – describe it for us?
We actually have our own makeup bags, which I’m obsessed with — they’re seriously amazing. Every time we launch something new, we love creating updated versions to match the vibe. Right now, I’m using a glossy pink one with the Huda Beauty logo on it. It’s super cute, fits everything I need, and just feels very Huda Beauty.
What’s your pre-makeup beauty ritual?
Skin prep totally changes how your makeup looks – it’s such an important step. I always start by exfoliating to get rid of any dead skin and make sure everything goes on super smooth. Then I give myself a quick facial massage to wake up my skin and boost circulation. After that, I go in with my regular skincare routine, making sure to hydrate and always finish with SPF.
Let’s break down your makeup routine – prep?
After exfoliating and hydrating with my go-to Embryolisse Moisturiser, I use our Easy Blur Primer. It really smooths everything out, blurs texture, and gives you that soft-focus, filtered base.
Face?
I don’t usually wear foundation everyday, but when I do, I’d go in with our Easy Blur Foundation for that blurred, skin-like finish. Then I use a bit of colour corrector and concealer where I need extra coverage, add some Tantour to warm up the face, and finish with Blush Filter. I lock it all in with my Easy Bake Powder, focusing on really snatching and brightening the undereye area.

Eyes?
Most days, I keep it pretty neutral. I love using the Icy Nude palette for a soft, wearable look. I usually add a smoked-out wing, a few coats of mascara, and of course, lashes to finish it off.
Eyebrows?
My brows are laminated, which makes life so much easier. I usually just brush them up with brow gel and fill in any sparse areas with a pencil. It’s quick, clean and keeps them looking polished.
Lips?
Right now, I’m really into a very secret combo – you’ll know all about it super soon!

To set?
Easy Bake Setting Spray, always. It locks everything in while keeping that blurred, airbrushed look all day long.
Brushes or sponges?
I only use brushes! I just feel like they give me more control and a better finish overall.
Which item instantly makes you feel made up?
Setting powder, 100 percent. It’s the finishing touch that pulls everything together before adding lipstick.
What’s the one piece of makeup you always carry in your handbag?
What about the hero product you can’t live without, and have used for years?
My Easy Bake Powder. I really can’t emphasise enough how incredible it is. I seriously can’t live without it. I’ve been using it since we launched it, and it’s still the one product I reach for every single day, whether I’m doing a full glam or on-the-go look. It blurs like a dream, locks everything in place, and gives you that smooth, filtered finish.

Tell us about a beauty trend you love?
Concealer lips.
The best piece of beauty advice you’ve been given?
The best advice I ever got is to use beauty as a way to express who you are. For me, makeup became a way to build confidence. I didn’t always feel beautiful growing up, and beauty allowed me to really discover myself. So whether you want a full-glam moment or something super minimal, just make sure it makes you feel empowered. When you feel good about yourself, that’s when the real beauty comes through.
What do you think should be in every makeup bag?
A lip liner, a gloss and a setting powder.
