We Tried SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic – Here’s Our Report

It's an all-time skincare cult classic, but does it really deliver?
It’s a beauty editors’ favourite, is backed by decades of clinical research, and it’s the go-to product for post-aesthetics treatment skincare, too. It has a host of incredibly impressive statistics behind it (36% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, 44% increase in radiance* and visibly reserves up to 10 years of ageing signs**), but does it really deliver brighter, firmer and younger-looking skin as it promises? We put SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic to the test.
C&TH Beauty Lab: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
The Product
Often spoken about as a gold-standard of antioxidant serums, SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic has a well-earned reputation as the holy grail of vitamin C serums. Lightweight, fast-absorbing, and backed by decades of skin science, C E Ferulic pairs 15% pure L‑ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with 1% vitamin E and 0.5% ferulic acid to enhance the skin’s natural protection against environmental damage. It’s designed for use in the morning after cleansing and before moisturiser and SPF, and is suitable for most skin types, including dry and combination complexions.
The triple-antioxidant blend is formulated to meet the Duke Parameters which is necessary for optimal vitamin C absorption and effectiveness. This synergistic formula helps neutralise free radical damage caused by daily exposure, reduce visible signs of ageing, and brighten dull complexions, promising to leave skin looking firmer, smoother, and more even-toned.
C E Ferulic is often recommended by dermatologists and aesthetic doctors in combination with more invasive skin treatments. Last year I underwent a series of laser skin treatments with Dean Rhobaye, and this product was top of his must-haves list for aftercare (he tells me it’s just as important as SPF for your skin).
The Clinical Bit
SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic is one of the most heavily studied antioxidant serums in skincare, and its reputation rests on both its formulation and its clinical data. ‘The original scientific research was focused on its contribution to reducing the damaging effects of UV exposure. Twenty years later, studies have shown C E Ferulic’s ability to defend against other types of environmental aggressors such as ozone, pollution and metals,’ explains Dr Taktouk.
Once absorbed, L-ascorbic acid helps neutralise free radicals at the skin’s surface while also supporting collagen production, which is why it is linked with brighter, firmer-looking skin. Vitamin E and ferulic acid work alongside it to reinforce the skin’s antioxidant defences, improving stability and helping the formula deliver longer-lasting protection against environmental stressors. The precise combination delivers eight times the skin’s natural environmental protection while reducing oxidative damage from UV, pollution, and metal by up to 48%***.
Uniquely tested for post-procedure use, C E Ferulic enhances laser and microneedling outcomes while minimising downtime****, making it a first-class choice for integrative skincare approaches that combine aesthetic treatments with high-performance topical antioxidants for brighter, firmer-looking skin.
The Test Drive
Vitamin C serums should be applied first thing in the morning, so I applied four to five drops every morning after cleansing, applying to my hands as instructed before pressing it lightly into my face, neck, and decolletage before layering over with moisturiser and SPF. The liquid texture feels almost weightless, slightly dryer than most serums and oils at first, but it disappears within seconds to leave a subtle, luminous glow. The scent (that distinctive vitamin C tang skincare fans will recognise) was a reassuring sign that I was giving my skin a potent dose of actives.
The most impressive delivery stats for CE Ferulic (37% increase in firmness, 36% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles* and visibly reserves up to 10 years of ageing signs**) seemed too good to be true, but results showed up sooner than I expected. Within a week, my skin looked brighter and more awake, I had more of the dewy glow I’m always trying to achieve.
What Were The Results?
After four weeks I noticed a subtle tightening effect, fine lines around my eyes looked a little smoother and foundation went on more smoothly. Most days I skip makeup altogether, because my skin is looking great and I’m getting compliments from family and colleagues. My skin tone appears more even, and the fine lines that usually surface after long days at my desk or running around after (/chauffeuring) a 10-year-old are noticeably softened. My complexion has regained a healthy luminosity; the kind that elicits more ‘you’re glowing’ comments than usual.
Final improvements are expected around the 12-week mark, so I will be continuing my daily C E Ferulic habit and will further update on the progress in two month’s time.
The Verdict: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
If you’re serious about brightening and protecting your skin, this cult serum lives up to its reputation. Yes, the price point is steep, but only four or five drops a day are needed, so one bottle can last up to three months. As far as top-of-class, results-driven skincare goes, this one really deserves the hype; other vitamin C serums just don’t measure up.
