The quickest way to secure a summer glow up? A colour boost. But not just any colour – we’re talking about these glossy hues, which salon experts predict will be major trends for summer 2025. Here’s the lowdown.
All The Major Hair Colour Trends For Summer 2025
It’s all about those elevated classis this season. Think glossy, multi-toned brunettes, warm, buttery blondes and hints of copper peeking through the fronds. Whatever your base shade, these summer hair trends cater for every kind of salon-goer.
Trends At A Glance
- Burnt Apricot Blonde
- Jam Blonde
- Crème Brûlée Blonde
- Mocha Melt Brunette
- Glossed Brunette
- Whiskey Glaze
1. Burnt Apricot Blonde
What would summer be without a little bit of blonde in the salon? ‘Blondes are warming up for summer, but not in the typical sun-kissed way,’ notes Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Studio23. ‘Burnt apricot is a unique take that fuses copper and strawberry tones into a soft, faded golden peach blonde. It’s subtle, sun-drenched, and totally different from the usual bright or icy, which feels slightly vintage and modern all at once. It’s flattering across a wide range of skin tones, complementing tanned skin beautifully and brings a nostalgic 70s glow.’

2. Jam Blonde
Another sickly sweet blonde hue on our radar this summer is jam blonde. ‘It’s made up of a golden blonde hue, infused with orange and yellow ribbons that are blended seamlessly throughout to add depth and dimension to the base colour,’ explains Nicholas James, celebrity stylist and owner of Nicholas James Hair. It instantly evokes that summer feeling – it’s like a ray of sunshine! This colour will surely dominate hair trends this summer; just picture it glistening and glimmering beautifully in that golden hour sun.’

3. Crème Brûlée Blonde
Warm, natural blonde tones also come into the spotlight with this hue. ‘Crème brûlée blonde subtly showcases this season’s shift toward softer, more natural tones,’ confirms Dan Spiller, Joico Colour Ambassador for Europe, UK & Ireland. ‘This shade features a beautiful blend of warm blonde and caramel hues, offering lots of gorgeous depth and dimension. Its golden, sun-kissed appearance catches the light naturally, creating a look that feels both lived-in and refined. The real beauty of this tone lies in its subtle contrast, with creamy highlights complementing the richer, golden undertones – a dream combination.’
The hair colour expert also highlights how versatile the shade is: ‘It looks great on sleek, polished styles and effortless, relaxed styles with lots of natural texture. And thanks to its low maintenance status (compared to traditional blonde hair), combined with expert placement of highlights and gentle colour transitions, Crème brûlée blonde grows out beautifully. This makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a colour that evolves rather than fades.’

4. Mocha Melt Brunette
Depth and natural warmth also sit front and centre for brunettes this season, says Jason. ‘Brunettes are getting richer and more dimensional,’ he says. ‘And driving that trend this season is “mocha melt”. This beautiful cocoa shade has a deep chocolate base blended with soft, milky highlights that catch the light. It’s luxurious, glossy and a softer take on high-contrast colour that’s perfect for summer shine.’

5. Glossed Brunette
Glossed hair is also on the up this season – especially when combined with a rich brunette hue. ‘Warm, shiny brunette tones are taking centre stage,’ confirms Luke Sawyer, Creative Director and hairstylist at Taylor Taylor London. He also emphasises that it’s this emphasis on shiny, healthy hair that is leading this shift. ‘From iced espresso to chocolate gloss, this is a wearable shift away from bleach, giving dimension and shine while being lower maintenance.’

6. Whiskey Glaze
And tipping over into bronzed brunette territory: ‘Whiskey glaze is rooted in warmth, a sun-kissed brunette that embraces those brassy, orange hues (rather than banishing them) with honey and vanilla highlights blended throughout to brighten and add depth,’ explains Seung Ki Baek, Creative Colour Expert and RUSH Art Team Member. ‘It resembles the infusion of those warm colours found in Scottish malt. Whiskey glaze requires little maintenance, blending seamlessly with a natural brunette base.’
