Purdey Launches Tree-Planting Project to Encourage Biodiversity and Bees
Renowned gun and country clothing maker Purdey has announced a new yearly tree planting initiative to support sustainability and biodiversity at its Royal Berkshire Shooting School, and to encourage bees. The brand will plant a tree for every gun sold the previous year, in addition to other saplings. Mostly planted will be walnut trees, which are used for gunmaking, as well as fruit trees like plum, quince, almond and cobnut. The project will take place every year during tree planting season, typically March. For 2023, Purdey will plant 90 trees.
Elemis London Collabs with Townhouse
To mark the launch of the new Elemis Pro-Collagen Celebration Trio, the British beauty brand has teamed up with luxury nail salon Townhouse to create two beautiful, limited-edition nail art designs, available in all its salons.
The treatment includes the application of Elemis’s Pro-Collagen Marine Facial Oil, Mayfair No. 9 Hand Lotion, and Pro-Collagen Rose Hydro-Mist. Customers will also take away a set of Elemis skin essentials worth £48 for free.

Stow Celebrates 10th Anniversary with New Look and Brand Ethos

Luxury British luggage brand Stow turns ten this year, and to mark the anniversary its founder, Carol Lovell, has examined the brand and its impact on people and planet. Together with its factory partners, it has committed to delivering ‘real luxury through being good at fair prices’ – and to avoid greenwashing through genuinely concentrating on ethical, small batch production practises.
This means Stow will only be using the most expensive, sustainably produced, top-grade luxury leather from highly regarded and accredited tannery Curtidos Badia in Spain. ‘We believe if brands don’t talk about where their leather comes from or how it is created, they have something to hide about its provenance and process,’ explains Carol.

It also means its designs will become timeless and seasonless with minimal hardware, for bags that don’t date or fall out of fashion. It will also not do any sales or discounts going forward, and the entire operations process has moved to Ubrique in Spain so the brand can make and dispatch from one location – meaning fewer airmiles.
To mark the new direction, Stow has relaunched with a new website, logo and a collection of four beautifully crafted, timeless handbag designs.

Jenson Button Goes on Safari for Hackett London
F1 racing driver Jenson Button fronts Hackett’s new SS23 campaign, for which the brand whisked him away on a safari trip to remember.
In the images, taken by photographer Charlie Gray, Jenson sports the brand’s safari’s inspired new season pieces, in linen fabrications and shades of olive greens and ecrus. His favourite piece? A classic Hackett Velospeed jacket. ‘I can honestly say that it’s the most spectacular photoshoot I’ve ever been a part of,’ raved the Formula 1 champion of the experience.

Boodles Goes for Gold at Cheltenham Festival
Back in February, Boodles announced its sponsorship of the 2023 Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival by inviting jockey
Rachael Blackmore to take part in a shoot outside the boutique on Bond Street with previous racehorse winner, Native River. Rachael, a brand ambassador, became the first woman to win the famous race back in 2022, when Boodles originally sponsored the Gold Cup. See the jockey in action again on 17 March in the Boodles Gold Cup, when she hopes to ride A Plus Tard to victory for a second year in a row.
Berry Bros. & Rudd Launches Female-Producer Led Limited Edition Case of Wine for International Women’s Day
Wine expert Barbara Drew NW has curated a limited edition case for Berry Bros & Rudd to mark International Women’s Day (8 March). The six-bottle wine collection champions six female producers from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhône, Rioja and Tuscany.
‘This case showcases some of our absolute favourites from Europe’s most popular regions,’ says Barbara, ‘and sheds the myth that the wine industry is still “male, pale and stale”.’
Berry Bros & Rudd also celebrate its 325th anniversary in 2023, and this International Women’s Day is extra special to the brand: the Great British Brand 2023 is female-founded, and its senior-leadership team to this day remains majority female – despite the wine industry, as a whole, being largely male-led.
British Designer Sabina Savage Partners with Wildlife Charity Born Free for SS23 Collection
Designer Sabina Savage has partnered with wildlife charity Born Free for her SS23 scarf collection, the ‘Samplers of Sincerity’. The new range will feature endangered and threatened species of insects and animals across the designs, all drawn by hand by illustrator Sabina.
The collaboration was born through Sabrina’s research into threatened species; through this work she encountered the impressive conservation initiatives led by Born Free. The charity is an international wildlife organisation campaigning for animal welfare and the protection of animals in their natural habitats.

All The Winners from the Purdey Awards 2022
In February, gun and country apparel maker James Purdey & Sons held the 2022 Purdey Awards for Game and Conservation in the famous Long Room of its Audley Street store.
The award ceremony, held annually at the end of the shooting season since 1999 (apart from a two-year break for Covid) celebrates the best shoots and estates in the UK. Its aim is to promote a wider appreciation and understanding of the outstanding game and habitat conservation work carried out across the UK.
The Gold Award was presented to The Great Lemhill & Greenwill Shoot in Gloucester, in recognition of the breadth and depth of work undertaken to create a spectacular variety of wild game alongside real and sustained biodiversity gains.
The Silver Award was given to Godmersham Park, where a successful partnership between the owner and the estate manager resulted in an exemplar of a truly sustainable shoot. The award recognised the positive impact created at Godmersham Park and how a long-term vision can deliver truly remarkable bio-diversity dividends.
The Bronze Award was received by Rottal Lodge, for the demonstrable conservation efforts and exemplary community partnerships displayed by this passionate family-run estate.
The recipients were presented with their awards by cricketer Sir Alastair Cook CBE, and the judging panel was chaired by the Duke of Wellington.

Planet-conscious British jeweller Monica Vinader’s new SS23 collection has just launched, and it’s inspired by the rhythm of bossa nova and vibrant colours of Rio de Janeiro.
The 10-piece gemstone-rich range, called ‘Rio’, features bold, colourful green onyx, aquamarine and pink quartz gemstones hand-cut by the same gem cutters Monica Vinader has worked with since launching her brand fifteen years ago. The collection’s necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings are all set in 100 percent recycled 18ct gold vermeil.
