Curriculum
In the first three years at St Catherine’s, all students follow a general academic programme that is designed to give each girl experience of a broad curriculum in advance of selecting her GCSE/IGCSE options in year nine. In 2025, 30 percent of A level grades were A*, 70 percent A*-A, and 91 percent at A*-B. This puts St Catherine’s in the top five girls’ boarding schools in the UK for A level results. Of all GCSE grades awarded in 2025, 79 percent were 9-7, 59 percent were 9-8 and 33 percent were 9, putting the school in the top 50 girls’ boarding schools in the UK for GCSE results.
Sport & The Arts
A wide range of sports is offered, including lacrosse, gymnastics, swimming, athletics, cross-country, cricket, tennis, squash and badminton. There is a two-year cycle of senior school musicals, with this year’s being Les Misérables. Each year, the lower sixth also puts on a musical from scratch – most recently Frozen – and there is a year six leavers’ production, which this year was Annie. St Catherine’s has a large number of choirs and music ensembles, including a symphony orchestra, jazz band, senior choir and flute choir.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care has consistently been identified in inspections as fundamental to the education and experience of St Catherine’s girls. The school’s most recent ISI report identified it as ‘a healthy environment in which the wellbeing of pupils is paramount, enabling them to enjoy their education and thrive personally’.
Exit Destinations
Leavers go on to leading universities including Durham, Exeter, LSE, Cambridge, KMITL Bangkok, UCL, Edinburgh, Royal Welsh College of Music, Imperial, Manchester, NYU, Bristol, Bath, Nottingham, Birmingham, King’s College London, Warwick, Cardiff and Newcastle.
