Fancy a movie marathon this weekend?

There’s something wintery about the Harry Potter franchise – so as the cold continues, it’s the perfect time to cosy up on the sofa for a rewatch. Here’s exactly where and how to watch the Harry Potter films here in the UK.

Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Where To Watch The Harry Potter Movies

In case you missed it, each and every Harry Potter film has been taken off Netflix, which was the UK home of the popular franchise from 2023 to 1 January 2026. So where can we relive the magic of the wizarding world now?

Our previous workaround was watching the films on ITV – which often re-runs the classic flicks – and later on ITVX where they were available for around 30 days. But no joy there, either.

Sadly the only way to stream Harry Potter in the UK right now is to rent the films from the likes of Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and the Sky Store, with rental prices starting at £3.49 per film.

Why? Because Warner Bros, the makers of the films, are preparing to launch their own streaming platform here in the UK: HBO Max. This will be the new UK home of Warner Bros and HBO’s productions, meaning the likes of Games of Thrones, Friends and The White Lotus will sit along a back catalogue of films including The Batman, Oscar Best Picture nominee One Battle After Another and, yes, the Harry Potter franchise in full. HBO Max UK is also where the new TV adaptation of Harry Potter will launch in 2027. Fittingly, they’re dubbing it ‘the best new platform since 9 ¾’.

HBO Max UK will launch on 26 March 2026, with monthly subscription prices starting from £4.99. It’s worth noting that the Basic and Standard plans include ads – but we just see that as the perfect moment for a popcorn refill. To go ad-free you’ll need a Standard subscription, which starts at £9.99 per month.

In the meantime, if you can’t quite face renting all of the films for an eight-film marathon, here’s a brief synopsis of each instalment to tide you over:

  1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001): Harry discovers he’s a wizard and begins his magical education at Hogwarts, where he faces Lord Voldemort for the first time.
  2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002): Harry returns to Hogwarts for his second year and uncovers a hidden chamber within the school, battling an ancient monster unleashed by Voldemort’s younger self.
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004): Harry learns about Sirius Black, a notorious fugitive thought to have betrayed his parents, but later discovers Sirius is his godfather and an ally.
  4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005): Harry unexpectedly competes in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament, where Voldemort returns to full power during a deadly confrontation.
  5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007): Harry forms a secret student group to prepare for the coming war against Voldemort, while battling the corrupt Ministry of Magic and its oppressive new regime at Hogwarts.
  6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009): Harry delves into Voldemort’s dark past with Dumbledore, while discovering a mysterious book belonging to the Half-Blood Prince and suffering a tragic loss.
  7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010): Harry, Ron and Hermione leave Hogwarts to hunt down and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes, magical objects that contain pieces of his soul.
  8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011): The final battle between Harry and Voldemort unfolds at Hogwarts, culminating in the defeat of the Dark Lord and the end of the Second Wizarding War.

Can I Watch Harry Potter For Free?

Sadly there isn’t a way to watch Harry Potter for free in the UK right now. For cheap workarounds, we’d recommend scouring charity shops for DVDs (if you still have a DVD player), and checking the Freeview TV guide for re-runs.
