London Fashion Week might be over, but we’re still ruminating on the buzz that has yet to evade the capital. And looking back on this season’s shows, we’ve picked out the style movements poised to take over in just a few months time. Keen to get ahead of the curve? 1. Britishcore

London Fashion Week’s AW25 edition was testament to the theory that enduring timelessness – and, to that extent, Britishness – never really goes out of style. Instead, we found designers referring back to the sartorial codes that make British fashion so exciting: an artfully crafted suit, tweed and tartan, pinstripe shirts, soft knits and even a Union Jack or two.

2. Textured Fringe

This season’s most ticklish trend. It’s been waiting in the wings for a few seasons now, but AW25 seems to be the one for fringe. And we’re not talking cowboycore levels of fringe – instead, think full skirts, tiered lampshade-like layers and metallic accents. On the runway, we saw a playful mix of lengths (midi to maxi), as well varying materials for the fringing itself: beads, ropes, threads and even tinsel had a moment in the spotlight.

3. Checked Out

Whether as a means of evoking traditional Britishness or an act of punkish rebellion, check remained a standout print at London Fashion Week. And while brands like Burberry and E.L.V Denim stuck to classic neutrals and pattern mixing, others brought the trend back to the runway in a vibrant splash of (primary) colour.

4. Back To Work

With UK businesses now urging the workforce back to a five-day week in the office, the fashion landscape has swung back towards corporate chic. That explains why, at London Fashion Week, one of the leading trends on the runway was pinstripe. Designers donned shirts, dresses, suits and coats in the signature print, bringing the highest levels of sartorial preppiness we’ve seen since pre-pandemic.

5. Reimagined Trench

What’s winter in the UK without a stylish coat? This questions seems to have preoccupied most London Fashion Week designer this season – and it seems one style came out on top: the humble trench. But she looks a little different for AW25. Think oversized silhouettes, embroidered detailing and playful textures such as PVC and faux fur patchwork.
