Burberry welcomes the arrival of British springtime with the help of Highgrove Gardens

It’s not every day a fashion collection gets the royal stamp of approval – but for Burberry, who has held a Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II since the 1950s and another from King Charles III since 1990, the challenge seems easy. And with its latest release, the British heritage label reaffirms its longstanding connection to the royal family. Here’s everything you need to know about the Burberry x Highgrove collection.

Burberry’s Latest Collection Has Ties To Highgrove Gardens

Burberry is celebrating the arrival of spring – as well as its royal ties – with a brand new collection created in collaboration with Highgrove Gardens. Surrounding the private residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Highgrove is well-known for its lush flora, which served as the perfect inspiration for the capsule.

This is the fourth time Highgrove has teamed up with the British label, the previous collaboration only being last year, but it’s a continued celebration of the duo’s shared appreciation for the environment, nature and craftsmanship – with the King having supported all three of these pillars with his charity The Prince’s Trust.

‘The strong relationship between Burberry and Highgrove continues in this fourth collection celebrating excellence in British creativity, heritage and the wonderful outdoors,’ commented Scott Simpson, Retail Director for The King’s Foundation.

And Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee added that the new collection ‘is the result of our strong and continuing partnership with Highgrove.’

Accompanied by a star-studded campaign, the Highgrove x Burberry collection taps actors Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey), Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey) and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Mr. Malcolm’s List) for a series of family moments caught within a classic British country house and garden. You can spot these A-listers reclining in maximalist lounges, investigating the green house and even lounging amongst a rather impressive cabbage patch – all while dressed in Burberry staples, of course. Speaking on the campaign, Lee noted that, ‘asking these esteemed actors to wear the collection was the best way to make the clothes come to life.’

Collection Highlights

Spanning menswear, womenswear and accessories, the 28-piece capsule collection plays on the natural wonders found in the kitchen garden at Highgrove, with an earthy colour palette flecked with pops of colour, as well as a series of prints designed by homegrown artist artist and fashion illustrator Helen Bullock.

The walled oasis of the kitchen garden is described as where ‘nature’s design meets careful cultivation’, providing a wealth of inspiration from which Bullock designed four prints. ‘The Gardens are so vast and rich it was hard to decide where to start,’ commented Bullock, reflecting on the collection. ‘But I soon fell for the tangled sway of wildflowers and that special combination of dancing poppies and cosmos.’ The artist’s prints also drew on the garden’s trees, honeybees and ornate fountain.

As another nod to Burberry’s deep-rooted relationship with the outdoors, the label also made sure that the main material of each piece was made from either certified wool, organic cotton or organic silk.

The Highgrove x Burberry Store Window Takeover

In celebration of the new collection, Burberry will be transforming a number of its stores with window displays and installations inspired by the work Helen Bullock. Spanning stores in Qingdao and Sanlitun in China, Miami, and London’s Regent Street, installations will build on the image of bucolic British gardens with unfurling florals and pretty benches.
