Kate Moss’ Former Party Pad Is On The Market
Supermodel Kate Moss’ former home in St John’s Wood is officially on the market. While the property has been under new ownership since 2012, it still holds the memories of Moss’ lavish parties which sparkled with the crème de la crème of London’s A-list.
The Queen Of London
The English model rose to fame in the 90s, becoming associated with the waifish ‘heroin chic’ look of the era. Born and raised in Croydon, Moss was discovered at aged 14 and took the fashion industry by storm when a series of black and white photos of her were published in The Face magazine. While the industry favoured statuesque models with more curvaceous frames at the time, the world quickly became obsessed with Moss’s more natural, street style look and her slight and short build (short for a model that is, at 5ft 7). Known as the ‘anti-supermodel’, her iconic look became a muse to many designers such as Calvin Klein and Donatella Versace.
Besides her modelling career, Kate Moss is known for her star-studded soirees, from all-night bashes in Claridge’s to her very own Glastonbury festival in her Cotswolds estate. Purchased by Moss in 2002, the star lived in this St John’s Wood home during the heyday of her noughties party years and presumably hosted many a bacchanalian affair beneath this roof. If only these walls could talk…
Inside The Home
Originally purchased for just £1.75m, Moss’ St John’s Wood home was sold to the current owners in 2012 for £6.8 million. During the ’90s (when the property was sold for less than £800,000) it was arranged over two main floors, before being extended to create a lower floor with a kitchen and entertaining area which leads directly into the garden – perfect for summer parties.
The five to six bedroom home boasts a Victorian stucco front, plus a high-ceilinged drawing room which leads onto a full width terrace and a large kitchen-family room. With its large walled garden, the home is hidden from the road and the curious eyes of dog walkers. It also offers residents secured gated parking and room for several cars, leaving space to pack your driveaway full of guests.
Where Else Has Kate Moss Lived?
Born and raised in Croydon, Moss moved to the West Village in New York during the height of her modelling career in the 90s where she lived with her then-beau Johnny Depp. When she was in London, Moss resided in Stanlake Villas in Shepherd’s Bush before moving into her St John’s Wood home in 2002.
Later selling the property to the current owners in 2012, Moss bought a house in The Grove, Highgate as her new London base (where other notable names like Samuel Taylor Coleridge and JB Priestley previously resided). But in a wave of other celebs – including David Beckham and Ellen DeGeneres – she eventually relocated to the Cotswolds in 2022. Her ten bedroom, Grade II listed country pile is located in Little Faringdon and remains her primary property to this day.
Where Is It?
Located on Greville Road, the house is only a short distance from the American School in London (ASL), local shopping amenities, restaurants and the Underground Stations of both Maida Vale and St John’s Wood, plus the open space of Paddington recreation ground. Close to Regent’s Park and the famous Abbey Road, it’s right in the heart of the capital.
