Arthur's Market is a one-stop-shop for fresh produce, sushi and pintxos
The King’s Road has long been a hotspot for foodies, but it’s about to get a whole lot more exciting thanks to the arrival of a brand-new grocery store and dining destination, Arthur’s Market.
Arthur’s Market: What To Expect From Chelsea’s New Food Destination
Set to open this autumn, Arthur’s Market comes from the founders of nearby pub, the Prince Arthur in Belgravia, led by founder Artur Voloshin.
The news of the launch was shared on Instagram, along with the caption: ‘We have some exciting news… Introducing Arthur’s Market, ASA and Salvador – three distinct concepts, one shared spirit of craft, flavour and hospitality.
‘This autumn, we’re opening the doors to a new culinary destination in Chelsea – where a Japanese handroll izakaya, fire-led pintxos and grill, traditional butcher, expert fishmonger and considered grocer all come together under one roof.’
By day, the market will offer an abundance of fresh produce, offering artisanal cheeses, seasonal fruit and vegetables and more. Visitors will also be able to pick up takeaway coffee, or grab a sandwich or salad for lunch.
A fishmonger will offer classic varieties sourced from Cornwall and Scotland, alongside more exclusive types, such as whole Spanish tuna, blue belly prawns and sea urchin – all apparently at ‘affordable prices’. The butchers, meanwhile, will serve high-quality cuts of meat, and over in the pantry shoppers can pick up everything from olive oil to caviar – plus the market’s own-labelled wine, created in partnership with the Prince Arthur.
The space will also serve as a buzzy eating market. Diners can enjoy sushi from ASA Izakaya, with dishes made using fresh fish from the Arthur’s Market fishmonger. This will be open for limited counter seating at lunchtime, when guests can watch the chefs at work. Come evening, ASA will extend into a sit-down dining experience seating up to 30 people. On Instagram, ASA is described as ‘a high-energy handroll bar where the freshest seafood meets counter dining with character.’ The post adds: ‘It’ll be fast-moving, flavour-led, and impossible to keep secret.’
Heading up the kitchen is chef Shaulan Steenson, whose CV includes top Japanese restaurants like Endo at the Rotunda in London, and Hakkoku in Japan. On the menu, you’ll find scallop, langoustine and squid kasudzuke nigiri, as well as an extensive selection of caviar and roe, designed to be paired with premium sakes including Dassai Beyond by Asahi Shuzō and Juyondai by Yamagate Prefecture.

The market will also be home to Salvador, another counter experience centred around a wood-fired grill. Here, diners can enjoy pintxos (Basque-inspired small plates) made using meat from Arthur’s butcher, like beef tartare with barred aged soy, bone marrow and confit egg yolk, and pork presa with ‘nduja bean stew, as well as rotating specials like A5 wagyu.
Opened in January 2025, The Prince Arthur is renowned for its food offering. It’s home to a Basque restaurant helmed by head chef Adam Iglesias, serving up an impressive menu of fire-grilled meats and seafood.
The launch of Arthur’s Market comes amid a flurry of new culinary openings for Chelsea. Earlier this year, Cafe Linea arrived in Duke of York Square, alongside The Chelsea Grocer, which replaced the long-standing Partridge’s. Tom Kerridge recently opened his latest gastropub just off the King’s Road, The Chalk Freehouse, and later this year Clare Smyth will launch a new bistro in the area, Corenucopia.
Next week, the neighbourhood will be even more lively than usual as the inaugural Chelsea Arts Festival takes place (19 – 21 September 2025): a four-day celebration of London’s art and culture scene.
Arthur’s Market will open this autumn at 79 King’s Rd, London, SW3 5EW. Stay updated on Instagram @arthurs.kingsroad.
