Elsa Hosk Is The Latest Celebrity To Debut A Gigantic Engagement Ring

Can you hear the bells? Elsa Hosk certainly can. The Swedish model just got engaged to her long-time partner, Tom Daly – who proposed with what can only be described as a rock-sized ring. Here’s the lowdown on the proposal (plus everything we know about Elsa Hosk’s engagement ring).
Elsa Hosk And Tom Daly Are Engaged
When it came to proposing to his girlfriend of almost 10 years, Tom Daly spared no expense in creating the most romantic setting he could. The Danish businessman filled the couple’s New York City apartment with Swedish flowers, before dropping to one knee to present his soon-to-be fiancée with a giant Tiffany & Co. engagement ring. Elsa’s answer? A joyful ‘yes’.
The newly engaged couple then made their way downstairs, to what Hosk thought would be an intimate dinner with her new fiancé, but what really was a surprise engagement party filled with close friends and family.
‘I said yessss,’ Hosk later wrote in an Instagram post, ‘in a Swedish wildflower garden, in our new apartment in the city we met, 10 years in – you and me baby @tomtomdaly.’

As mentioned, the couple have been together for over a decade – having met in 2015 at a party in New York City. ‘I was just invited randomly to this party and I was seated next to him,’ recalled Hosk in an interview with Vogue Scandinavia in 2022. ‘I was kind of in a relationship at the time and he was also in a relationship at the time, but I do remember it was love at first sight.’
And once they were both free to date other people, it took a while for Daly to work up the courage to ask out the Swedish model. ‘[I] was so nervous to make the first move,’ he also told Vogue. ‘It took me six weeks. I would walk her to her front door and just drop her off and carry on walking.’
But it all worked out in the end. The couple have been together ever since, and share a four-year-old daughter together. Their engagement – and upcoming nuptials – is just the next chapter in their story.

And now for the ring itself. Hosk has cultivated a personal style steeped in Scandi minimalism and modern elegance, and her engagement jewellery perfectly captures her aesthetic. ‘Elsa Hosk’s engagement ring looks like an oval-cut diamond with a diamond halo set in platinum, with a diamond pavé band,’ notes Maddy Sangster, founder of Heavenly London. ‘It’s a very elegant and classic style – and very on-brand for Elsa. It’s slightly less traditional than a round-cut diamond, but incredibly flattering as it elongates the finger. Oval diamonds are cut similarly to round brilliants which also makes them extremely sparkly.
‘I would estimate the gemstone at eight or nine carats,’ she continues. ‘The size of the stone and the craftsmanship of the design takes the ring to something more enduring and long lasting, instead of just trendy.’
It also confirms the trend for big, showstopping gemstones amongst newly-engaged celebrities. From Lady Eliza Spencer’s large pear-cut stone and Taylor Swift’s elongated cushion-cut number to Georgina Rodríguez’s staggering 30-carat oval-cut diamond, we’ve seen some pretty impressive rings take the spotlight this summer.
‘We’re definitely seeing an appetite for large central stones,’ confirms Maddy. ‘And with lab-diamond prices dropping so quickly, large stones are becoming more available to the masses. With Taylor Swift’s ring also being a very classic style, this could indicate a move towards the pieces that look and feel like investment heirlooms as opposed to just being flashy.’

Who Designed The Ring?
No need to wonder – the Swedish model confirmed in an Instagram post that Tiffany & Co. was behind the impressive engagement ring. The world-renowned jeweller has been making engagement rings since 1886, and is responsible for creating the industry-defining Tiffany Setting (a six-pronged design that allows the diamond to float above the band).
‘The ring was supposedly from Tiffany & Co.,’ adds Maddy, who suggests it could hail from the jeweller’s Soleste collection.
It also makes sense for Hosk to choose a Tiffany & Co. engagement ring, as she is a long-time ambassador of the brand and continues to attend many of its events today.
How Much Was Elsa Hosk’s Engagement Ring?
A grand ring comes with a (couple hundred) grand price tag. ‘With a big brand name like Tiffany & Co. you have to factor in their premium,’ notes Maddy, ‘though Elsa and Tom would likely have a VIP price. I would estimate the ring somewhere around the £500,000 mark.’
‘Estimated between eight and 10 carats, set in platinum with a pavé band, and almost certainly of the highest colour and clarity given Tiffany’s exacting standards, it could be valued anywhere from £300,000 to close to £1 million,’ adds Jeremy Kanzen, co-founder and CEO of The Diamond Store. ‘If a natural diamond, a stone of this scale is extremely rare, elevating the price significantly. A lab grown equivalent, however, would deliver the same beauty with a more sustainable story and exceptional value.
