Cornwall
Breaking news: Gordon Ramsay has bought up a new Cornwall home, only a few doors down from his current Cornish abode. A 19th century, four-bedroom home with a two acre parcel of land, Ramsay purchased the property for £9.65m, making it the most expensive house ever sold in the county.
It was, however, long before this most recent purchase that Ramsay first made his mark in the area. In 2015, the TV chef bought up a £4.4m 1920s home in the Cornwall village of Rock – which he then demolished in 2019. Building a modern glass and wood pad in its place, his extensive construction work (which finished in March 2021) wasn’t taken all too kindly by his neighbours. As well as the primary property, the home – which he stills owns to this day – boasts a smaller Garden house, a large outdoor infinity pool overlooking the sea, views of the Carmel Estuary, an expansive patio, two kitchens, two terraces, a wine cellar and boathouse.
While the new home was under construction, Ramsay needed a second Cornwall base. And so in 2016 he bought up a Cornish pad for £3.5m. ‘The family loves spending time in Cornwall,’ Ramsay told the Daily Mail at the time. ‘While the Rock property is under long-term renovation, we wanted to call somewhere else home.’ Located in the village of Trebetherick near their base in Rock, Daymer Bay House is a stone-sided abode with 2.5 acres of waterfront views. The property has six bedrooms, four bathrooms, a sun room, a dining room with French doors opening to the terrace, a balcony, tennis court, swimming pool and poolhouse. When the family sold the home for £7.5m in March 2021, it was the most expensive house ever to be sold in Cornwall.
As Ramsay’s wife said in 2019: ‘[Gordon] has always had an obsession with the sea, and spends hours fishing or just sitting on the dunes.’ It’s no wonder then, that Ramsay bought up a third Cornwall home just a year after purchasing his second. Added to his portfolio for £2m in 2017, this Grade II listed Fowey home is in fact a former bank, which Ramsay refurbished and rechristened Trevail house. The 2,8000 sqft property offers up four bedrooms, a sitting room with fireplace, two kitchens and a patio with a firepit and steps leading to the water. Rather than keep it, however, he and his wife decided to rent out the vacation home for up to £7,000 a week. More recently, Ramsay sold the seaside dwelling for around £2.7m in October 2020, but it is still available to rent via Boutique Retreats.
London
Like any good British celeb, Gordon Ramsay and his family need a London base to call their own. In 2002, Ramsay purchased a £7m, eight-bedroom Victorian townhouse in Wandsworth, south-west London. The family’s primary abode, he obtained planning permission in 2021 to renovate the home, transforming the four existing bedrooms into a one-floor-spanning master bedroom with two ensuite bathrooms and a walk-in dressing area. He also introduced a revamped basement, a wine cellar and a ground floor extension. Elsewhere, the home boasts a stretched-out dining table, a gym, study, playroom, two igloo-shaped guest cabins, and of course a state-of-the-art kitchen. While they were forced to move out during the reconstruction, the Kitchen Nightmares star and his family returned to the home in 2024.
While he was renovating his Wandsworth home, in 2021 Ramsay reportedly moved into a nearby apartment for £12,000 a month. Located in Battersea Power Station, the unit had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Thames, an open floor plan, and contemporary furnishings.
With building works still ongoing, in 2023 the culinary star upgraded from the luxe apartment to a red-brick Edwardian home, which he bought for about £7.6m. In May 2024, the chef flipped this extra five-bedroom pad back onto the market, garnering about £7.8m.
LA
Though he made his start in the UK, today Gordon Ramsay is a worldwide sensation. And as such, he needs a place to call his own across the pond as well. In 2012 he purchased a £5.12m Bel Air home in LA. Inspired by a Connecticut farmhouse, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home was built in 2003, having been designed by architect Ken Ungar and interiors queen Carole Poet. Today, the home (plus two-bedroom guest house) boasts an infinity pool, jacuzzi, spa, terraces, fire pits, and rolling lawns with views of the canyon, city and ocean.
