Will There Be Big Mistakes Season 2?

Dan Levy’s bingeable new comedy is streaming now
It’s chaotic, clever and extremely bingeable – and all eight episodes are streaming now. I’m talking about Big Mistakes, the brand new comedy/crime drama penned by Dan Levy – one half of the father-son duo behind Schitt’s Creek.
And similarly to Schitt’s Creek, we centre on two deeply incapable siblings, though this time they don’t fall from a life of luxury. Likewise, instead of his father Eugene Levy, here Levy has teamed up with American comedian/actress Rachel Sennott to pen Big Mistakes.

Rising to fame starring in Shiva Baby (2020), Sennott is best known for her roles in Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), Bottoms (2023) and Saturday Night (2024). She was originally set to star in the series opposite Levy, too, but scheduling conflicts with her own series I Love LA made this impossible; instead, her role as Levy’s on-screen sister was taken by The Four Seasons star Taylor Ortega.
Here’s what you need to know before you tune into Big Mistakes, plus everything we know about the future of the series.

The Plot
Big Mistakes centres on queer priest Nicky (Levy) and his sister Morgan (Taylor Ortega), who journey on a hilariously chaotic ride as they are blackmailed into the world of organised crime following a spot of ill-advised petty theft on the behalf of their ailing grandmother. As Nicky preaches in the trailer, below, ‘Fear has this ability to coerce us into doing things we never envisioned ourselves doing.’
Lots of odd jobs for shady characters to come. Nicky and Morgan are joined by their blissfully unaware mother Linda (Laurie Metcalf) as they’re unwittingly pulled deeper into the underworld.

Will There Be Another Season?
No news just yet from Netflix on whether Big Mistakes will be renewed for another season – watch this space for updates. If it gets the greenlight, there’s plenty more for Nicky and Morgan to delve into, especially following the big reveal of the gang leader at the end of the season…
The answer will depend on viewing figures, audience feedback and completion rates (how many viewers watch the full series), with Netflix typically taking at least 30 days to make a decision – though the waiting period can be much longer.
That said, we know this won’t be the last we see of Dan Levy on Netflix, after the Schitt’s Creek star reportedly signed an eight figure deal in 2021 ‘under competitive circumstances’ to produce film and TV exclusively for the streaming service. The first fruit of the deal was 2023’s Good Grief, while Big Mistakes is Levy’s first TV project for Netflix.
When Big Mistakes was first announced, Levy said in a statement: ‘I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix… I’m thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf “mother”. Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.’
All eight episodes of Big Mistakes are streaming on Netflix now.
