If you wannabe the owner...
I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want… the penthouse where the Spice Girls filmed their Wannabe music video. Now on the market for £7.5m, here’s your chance to spice up your life by buying up an iconic piece of pop culture history.
Spice Girls Music Video Penthouse For Sale
If you wannabe like a Spice Girl, you gotta live like a Spice Girl. And what better way to make your pop star dreams come true than moving into the penthouse where the stars filmed their iconic Wannabe music video?
Set in what was then the Midland Grand Hotel, now the St Pancras, London, the music video follows Posh, Baby, Ginger, Sporty and Scary as they grate-crash a socialite party and wreak havoc on the grand, gothic premises. Slamming their bodies down and winding all around the historic building, we see Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham strutting their stuff (in some truly enviable fits) and performing dance numbers on the stairs, already-then destined to be copied at many a sleepover over the years.
An icon of London architecture, the Grade I listed St Pancras Chambers was designed by renowned 19th century architect George Gilbert Scott and constructed 1873. Alongside its hotel, private members club, gym, spa and train station, the structure also houses a selection of privately owned apartments. And while it’s all well and good staying over in the hotel for the night (read our review here), buying up this penthouse suite gives you the chance to journey up and down its iconic staircase day in and day out.

The Story Behind The Wannabe Music Video
A music video first for Swedish director Johan Camitz, the original concept for the video was a one-take shot of the Spice Girls running riot through an exotic building in Barcelona.
Sadly unable to get what he really, really wanted, Camitz was ultimately refused permission to use the chosen Barcelona building; the shoot was eventually relocated to the Midland Grand, and ultimately spliced together from not one, but two takes. Despite the London relocation, according to Mel C’s memoir Who I Am, the 3m 55s video cost £130,000 to make.
Step Inside
Last put on the market in 2021 for £11.5m, actress and model Lily Cole – who has starred in films such as St. Trinian’s and Snow White and the Huntsman – is said to be a former resident of the high-profile home. Ed Sheeran is also rumoured to have previously viewed the property but apparently decided it wasn’t his taste.
Spanning almost 6,000 sqft of living space, across the sixth, seventh and eighth storeys of St Pancras Chambers, this triplex, three-bedroom apartment, is located in the original water tower of the hotel. From weighty four-poster beds and wood-panelled walls, to the historic fireplaces and wall-spanning windows, this property is rich in period detail.
Entered via a private lift, the home opens up via the grand reception hall, leading through to two bedrooms (one en-suite), a family bathroom, and a grand principal suite, featuring two dressing rooms, a study and two en-suites. Upstairs, sits the kitchen, store, utility and plant room, plus additional staff accommodation and a further bathroom.
It is the top floor, however, which is the real highlight of the home. Spanning the entire level, sits a grand, open-plan entertainment room complete with intricate wooden beams and lofty, arched ceilings, a bar, private rooftop, curved red velvet sofa and an elaborate chandelier.
Life in St Pancras Chambers also offers up a 24-hour front desk concierge services and two private parking spaces, as well as access to the five-star amenities of the hotel (for an additional membership fee), including maid and room service, plus access to the spa, swimming pol and gym.
