The Tom Holland and Zendaya of the nineties and noughties, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr too found love on a film set – having first met while filming hit thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), and going on to co-star in multiple films, including She’s All That (1999) and of course Scooby-Doo (2002) and its 2004 sequel, where they played Daphne and Freddie.

The Hollywood sweethearts married in 2002, had two children, and have been together ever since. Today, the couple live in LA’s Encino neighbourhood, having purchased a property there in an off-market deal in spring 2025 (for a reported $12.4m).

But it seems the Buffy The Vampire Slayer star is still yet to find a buyer for her previous home – a sprawling Brentwood Estate set within the rolling hills of the Lower Mandeville Canyon. Initially, the pair rented out their family home for $60,000 a month. Then in late May 2026, the actors finally put the Colonial-style home on the market for $10.5m. But, failing to sell, they’ve now reduced the asking price by over $500,000, down to $9.95m.

Built in the early 2000s by Shain Development, the pair purchased the property for $6.1m in 2013, just a year after they welcomed their son Rocky James Prinze. They then gave the residence an extensive makeover, upgrading the swimming pool and converting the attic into a teen hangout complete with arcade machines. Today, this same attic space has been converted again, this time into a chic home gym.

Tucked behind gates, the Hamptons-style home is a white board-and-batten-sided structure, complete with wide-plank oak floors, custom millwork, and French doors that open to the gardens. Entered via a columned portico, the home opens up to a double-height foyer. From here, sits a study, a formal dining room, a family room complete with a more casual dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is appointed with premium appliances, a centre island, and a breakfast nook. Elsewhere, there’s a living room with a wet bar and climate-controlled wine room, as well as a home gym.

Spanning around 7,300 sqft,the three-storey property boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms – including the primary suite on the second floor decked out with a bath, walk-in wardrobe, spotlit vanity and double his and hers sinks. The vibe is minimalist and serene, with plenty of calming beige, natural materials and tactile textures.

Set within nearly a third of an acre, the west-facing backyard hosts a heated lap pool with an inset spa, a barbecue station, a flagstone fire pit, and a covered entertaining terrace. An attached two-car garage also sits off a streetside driveway.

This Brentwood home is certainly a big step up from Sarah Michelle Gellar’s first property purchase. Using her vampire slaying money, Gellar bought-up her first home at just 20 years old. ‘It’s crazy because I was the first person in my family to ever own an apartment, a house, anything,’ she told PEOPLE. She said of the purchase: ‘Initially, it’s just the excitement. The idea that I have a home that is mine and that when you close those doors, that’s your sanctuary, that’s your peace away from everything.’ However, she added that soon ‘the realities hit you, especially at 20 years old, of what you’re responsible for with a house’.

Having grown up in an NYC apartment, owning a home of her own was a big shift for the star. ‘Being responsible for a house – especially for me, who grew up in an apartment building that had a maintenance person – you don’t realise how overwhelming it really is,’ she said.
