Live In A Diane Keaton Designed Home – Now On The Market For $10.3m

Not only was she a brilliant actor, but like many celebrities it turns out that the late Diana Keaton was also an experienced house flipper and real estate developer. From Ellen DeGeneres to Drew Barrymore, it seems that home renovation (and profit-making) is a favourite hobby among the Hollywood elite with the cash to spare on an extra home or two. And Keaton was no different. An enthusiast for LA’s Spanish Colonial architecture, she bought, renovated, redesigned and resold several mansions in Southern California during her lifetime – including one for Madonna, who bought a Beverly Hills mansion off her for $6.5m in 2003.

Having passed away on 11 October 2025, Keaton’s final real estate project was a four-bedroom beach house on Laguna Beach in California. The Annie Hall star and Academy Award-winning actress reportedly purchased the property for $6.6m in 2021, and sold the renovated home just a year later for $7.9m. Today, it’s coming to the market with a $10.3m price tag. Take a look inside.

Originally built in 1976, the 2,700 sq ft dwelling is decked out in Keaton’s signature black-and-whit colour scheme – seen in the white shaker siding and flat roof with black-shingle extension outside, as well as the exposed black brick walls, whitewashed wood-panelled ceilings, and oak wide-plank flooring within. Currently owned by a couple based in Arizona who own an aeroplane parts company, they’re said to have retained much of Keaton’s original design scheme. ‘This was Diane Keaton’s last home renovation and still includes all of her lighting and personal touches,’ says realtor Brooke Wainwright of Luxe Realty. 

At the heart of the two-storey house sits an open-plan living area with a brick fireplace and glass doors leading to oceanfront decks. Meanwhile the grey and white kitchen features a formal dining area and a marble island. Further living space, plus a bar, sit down below, while upstairs hosts the primary suite, offering a fireplace, ensuite with a double vanity, rain shower and standalone tub, plus a deck with views across the Pacific Ocean.

Ideal for beachside living, the property sits on a narrow lot above Table Rock Beach. Down the back of the home is a wooden staircase that leads directly to the sandy beach, as well as a sliding door that opens to an outdoor space complete with a bar and grill. 

The property was one of many renovated by Keaton during her lifetime. Outside of her on-screen work, the Something’s Gotta Give actress was passionate about home decorating. She published a book in 2017 called The House that Pinterest Built which documented the redesign of her ‘industrial chic dream home’. The home in question was her 8,000 sq ft sprawling brick home in Los Angeles’s Sullivan Canyon, which she did-up in a rough-hewed, reclaimed style. A decade earlier, she also published a coffee table book celebrating Spanish Colonial architecture and design in Southern California called California Romantica.

Laguna Beach was a favourite spot of Keaton’s to buy and sell in. She had previously bought and restored a similarly white-shingle home with a black roof on nearby Chiquita Street in the early 2000s. ‘She loved doing her flips in Laguna,’ says Wainwright. Other projects of hers include Lloyd Wright’s historic Samuel-Novarro house, a Spanish Colonial Revival-style property in Bel-Air, a Beverly Hills Spanish Colonial Revival structure, two Pacificic Palisades homes, and a Barrio Viejo home in Tucson, Arizona. 

The news of this property follows the sale of Keaton’s own, private home following her death last year. Her former Los Angeles estate (the same one featured in The House That Pinterest Built) sold for $18m last month after a series of price reductions.
