Meet the newest addition to this premium skincare brand’s product portfolio, designed to work with the skin’s circadian rhythm through the night to perk up your complexion while you sleep

One of the world’s most lauded skincare and haircare brands with more than 35 years of pioneering research under its belt, Augustinus Bader has achieved almost mythical status in the beauty industry. Indeed, it was named ‘The Greatest Skincare of All Time’ by WWD‘s Beauty Inc in 2026. A-listers like Victoria Beckham and Dua Lipa have partnered with it and celebrity facialist Melanie Grant is a global adviser. Launched in 2018 by internationally renowned stem cell scientist Professor Augustinus Bader, the brand is built around a patented cellular-renewal technology rather than standard cosmetic formulas. At its core is TFC8®, Trigger Factor Complex™, a blend of natural amino acids, vitamins and molecules that acts like a smart GPS and toolbox for your skin. Created from burn-healing and regenerative medicine research, the technology gives sluggish cells a cellular ‘wake-up’ call to support self-repair, renewal and a smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles. Juliet Herd puts the new AB Overnight Restorative Cream through its nocturnal paces.

The Product

Powered by the brand’s Advanced TFC8® cellular-renewing complex, The Overnight Restorative Cream claims to set a new standard in overnight repair. Its smart, biomimetic delivery system encourages increased chatter between cells and greater nutrient absorption, enabling faster, more targeted visible results, says AB. This next-gen technology is combined with a calming Cica complex to reduce redness and inflammation; melatonin-mimicking extracts to tackle fatigue, and trusty hydrators such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, squalane and polyglutamic acid, to help seal in moisture. By morning, you can expect your complexion to appear firmer, smoother and visibly plumper and revitalised.

The Clinical Bit

One of the main findings of both clinical and consumer studies has been the advanced technology’s success in addressing specific concerns such as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, uneven tone and texture, and redness.

In a clinical trial evaluated after one overnight use involving 35 participants aged 35-65 with dull, irritated and self-perceived sensitive skin, 82 percent showed improved hydration while 80 percent noticed better elasticity. Visible signs of fatigue reduced by 11 percent and radiance improved by nine percent.

In user trials evaluated after four weeks and involving participants aged 34-70 with fatigued and sensitive skin, 92 percent reported that their skin stayed deeply hydrated until morning; 91 percent said their skin looked smoother and healthier, and 80 percent felt their skin was firmer with fewer obvious wrinkles. A total of 85 percent noticed their skin looked restored by morning.

The Test Drive

I have a confession to make. This was my first experience of using the fabled Augustinus Bader. It didn’t disappoint. Applying the overnight cream for the first time, I could see why the brand’s products are considered the Rolls Royce of skincare. It felt simply sumptuous, velvety and rich, although not in a heavy way. Applied generously to my face and décolleté, it absorbed like a shot, leaving my bone-dry skin feeling instantly plumper and hydrated. I’ve been glowing ever since – if testimony from friends and family is anything to go by.

I particularly liked that the moisturiser pairs well with strong actives like retinoids and acids, so I happily used it alongside some heavy-hitting serums as the last step in my nightly routine. Another plus is that AB skincare is formulated with high potency botanicals and bio-engineered clean actives, where possible, to reduce environmental impact. The cream is vegan, fragrance-free and formulated without common irritants like parabens, sulfates, silicones, mineral oil and talc, so suitable for those with sensitive complexions. It’s also housed in a recyclable aluminium Nomad tube.

Unsurprisingly, AB’s science-led products come with a hefty price tag – hence why I haven’t had the pleasure of using them before now. It’s undoubtedly an investment, but the results speak for themselves.

The Verdict

I feel like I’ve been initiated into an exclusive luxury skincare club – once you’ve gained entry, you’re reluctant to leave. The membership benefits, I would suggest, are impressive, particularly for those with problematic skin. This is a cream which supports deep overnight restoration, boosting natural collagen production and helping to improve skin density and barrier integrity for a stronger, smoother-looking complexion. We all feel better after a good night’s sleep, and waking up looking refreshed – with reduced signs of fatigue and stress – can only be a bonus.
