Beautiful fragrances for brides-to-be

There are many components when it comes to a wedding wardrobe: the shoes, the veil, the something blue and, of course, the dress. But the finishing touch to any bridal look has to be a wow-worthy wedding perfume. ‘Fragrance in general can play many different roles: to finish an outfit, make an impression or create a mood. The “right” fragrance can help create a feeling of calm, poise and excitement before you walk down the aisle,’ explains Anna Gilchrist, fragrance and bespoke executive at Floris London. ‘And on your wedding day, perfume serves a very specific purpose: to capture a memory.’

Below, we ask the experts in fragrance for their top tips on tracking down the perfect wedding perfume – and share our top picks for 2026 brides.

How To Find Your Perfect Wedding Perfume

Choose Something That Feels Like You

The top rule, when shopping for wedding perfume, is to find something that really feels like you. Something you like, something you’d wear and something that you’d happily include in your wedding wardrobe. This isn’t really the time for experimenting, adds Anna. ‘While it is nice to wear something new, I would always suggest keeping it within familiar territory so that you feel like yourself.’

Try It Before The Big Day

The timeline for wedding prep stretches back months and months – leaving plenty of time to find and, more importantly, try your chosen perfume. ‘It is of course essential to try it on your skin before the day and also to understand how it dries down, because you won’t want to be reapplying throughout the day,’ emphasises Anna. ‘Of course, with this you also want a certain amount of longevity because you don’t want to worry about reapplying throughout the day. Always try out a perfume beforehand.’

Don’t Wear Anything Too Heavy

It can be tempting to opt for a fragrant, long-lasting perfume, but Anna warns against wearing anything that smells too strong. ‘It’s often tricky for brides and grooms to pin down a scent, because everyone is looking for something slightly different, depending on the style of the wedding and the location,’ she says. ‘But we tend to advise lighter fragrances that don’t overpower the dress.

‘You will also be hugging a lot of people that day,’ she reminds, ‘so it’s nicer to have a delicate fragrance rather than something too heavy.’

Book A Bespoke Experience

And if nothing on the shop shelves inspires you, why not make your own perfume? Floris London hosts appointments for brides and grooms where they can create their own signature fragrance for the big day. Hosted in its secluded perfumery on 89 Jermyn Street, an appointment starts with a glass of champagne before you track down your favourite fragrance notes and then slowly create a scent especially for you.
