Josephinenhütte Competition

Josephinenhütte‘s story begins in 2019, when Kurt Josef Zalto and his team drew inspiration from a historic glassworks bearing the same name. Kurt’s mission was to create a new kind of glassware that would honour the work of winemakers by drawing out the unique character of each wine. The result is the Josephine Collection: a range of meticulously handcrafted, mouth-blown glasses that are exceptionally thin yet remarkably durable.

Each glass is a sculpture, born of years of artisanal expertise and a precise fusion of form and function. The height-to-diameter ratio, the contour of the bowl, the sharply tapered base… nothing is accidental. Every angle is sculpted to serve the ideal unfolding of touch, aroma, and taste. The distinctive bend in the bowl accelerates and intensifies aeration with each swirl, while the design allows for greater precision in movement. The ultra-thin rim gives you finer control over every sip. It is this iconic shape that Kurt Josef Zalto calls his masterpiece.

A standout in the collection is the Josephine No. 3 Red, designed to showcase both Burgundy and Bordeaux wines with equal brilliance in a single glass.
