Founded by Niaobh Beatty, NIAO approaches knitwear with a slower, more considered philosophy — creating pieces designed to be worn, repaired and kept for years rather than seasons. Rooted in craftsmanship and inspired by a lifelong connection to nature, the brand focuses on timeless silhouettes, natural fibres and thoughtful production without relying on trend-driven consumption or synthetic blends.
Before launching NIAO, Beatty spent over a decade working within the tech industry before ultimately stepping away to build something more grounded and purposeful. Coming from four generations of seamstresses and makers, the brand reflects a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, longevity and the emotional connection people form with clothing over time.
Each piece is designed with versatility and ease in mind, balancing understated luxury with everyday wearability. From soft alpaca knitwear to elevated lounge and travel pieces, the collections are intended to move effortlessly through modern life while remaining deeply connected to traditional craftsmanship and responsible production.
Unlike much of the fashion industry, NIAO avoids the use of synthetic fibres and plastic-based blends wherever possible, focusing instead on natural materials chosen for both comfort and biodegradability. Some of the wool used within the collections is sourced from a regenerative alpaca farm in Somerset, reinforcing the brand’s emphasis on transparency, traceability and conscious craftsmanship.
